Obama is the first urban northern President in a long time with no southerner on the ticket.

One could argue that the past 32 years have had at least one southerner (or perceived southerner) on the ticket in the White House (8 years of Bush Jr. + 8 years of Clinton + 12 years of Bush Sr. + 4 years of Carter).

Maybe that's part of the reason for the resentment toward Obama.
