When he will be 20 she will be 26. Thats not a big difference in age.
I dont know how you get aquinted with him, as 17 and him 12, maybe he was looking older than he is, and more mature than other boys his age, or you were looking much younger than other teens your age, or both. But you were teen when you met up.
Who is to say we are suddendly adult age 20?
The most are not and are still upgrown teens at 32..
Before and still today in some country, at 15-16 you were to be married, you were considered being an adult, and get married to an old man.
Like Maria and Joseph in the bible.

Today thats different but in most society also our long ago a boy entered the men world at age 14, thats why we have confirmation at age 14.
it isnt well accepted today, but if those 2 are in love since they are 12 and 17, why not?

Strangely i will found it more admissible if he was 15 or 16 years old. Kids are very different from one to another so it is difficult to say if it is ok or not.
But basically he is emotionaly too imature for that, but in another way, some young can be very wise and serious and more emotional mature than some adults are..
I am mostly afraid it migth affect him all his life, in a positive way, but also maybe in a negative way. Somehow it push him to grow emotionaly faster than he will normaly do, but it also block him for emotional grow of a more teenage like kind.
Being 20, it isnt so mcuh the sex i think is bad between the 2 of oyu, but the influence as you will talk about other type of subjects than 14 years old girls and boy will be interested to tlak about, and it is fine if it is in his nature to be with older people and to be more serious, but it bare in it the danger of stealing him for his childhood, and accelerating a groth process who is often best left alone to learn by growing naturally. We are forced enough to be adults too quickly, no need to insist.
It wont be wrong later on, but just now, at the early teenage years, it is.
It is difficult to judge as it is very individual how a child evolve and is.
But if he is just an average kid, then let him be.

I think there is no safe way to get trough puberty, we all get hurt at some point. The fact that you've been dating over a year before you had sex is just lovely, i wish you all the best.

When I was 14, my "boyfriend" was 19. He's still a good friend, and is turning 22 this September. There's a one-year difference between this case and my own, which worked out just fine.

 

when i was seventeen i liked a boy who was 14...i never took our relationship to a physical level because well. because he turned 15 and i turned 18...and i was like. damn im an adult. and even though physically we both look the same age he is still...growing up. so. i mean you cant help how you feel about someone but i just see taking that step that you did as just gross. but i wish you the best.

but my sister was 15 when her and hubby met. he was almost 22 and my parents went ballistic. they banned them seeing each other they got married when she had just turned 19. she didnt go to university and has had two kids. now ten years later... he has no job she cant work coz she is preggers with a 3rd. they are living at my parentss house and living off the government and the generosity of my parents.

Thats also a bit weird but not as bad, at least the bf was older than you. If the gf is older, especially by such a lot its pretty weird. While she is at work earning money, he is at school learning how babies are made.

yeah i think thats a bit wrong that would be like me dating my brother's friends. They arent even legal, but im sure you know that. But 14 year old boys seem to be very immature, at 20, why would you want to deal with the childish behavior?
