I like Doors a lot. There is a good feeling in some of their music. But I too think it's much over-rated.
OMG! i love the doors. they are my no.1 fave band...eva. i totally love light my fire and i actually cant choose my fave song cos i love all of em, if you ever heard the ghost song its amazing! i love it its sooo funky hehe! RIP Jim Morrison (he was a total fox)
i really love the doors, have all the studio albums, i espically love the instrumental ones, as you should really listen to the whole band and not just jim morrison, as morrison said 'jim morrison and the doors, noooo its 'The Doors'
yeah the guy sure as hell was right about the spaced out thing! 90% of the time iget stoned (which is a lot, especially now) it was while listening to the doors. which says something about their groove...
I love the doors. i can listen to them for aaaaaaaaaaages. I love that the music has this complexity about it, and the lyrics - yes, just yes! They can get pretty trippy at times, but thats never a bad thing. i heart mr mojo risin' the doors could stay in my soul kitchen anytime
*deep breath* It just bores me when people slam w/o any real facts or ACTUAL information based on waterly opinions that sound like modern day MTV critics. Lots of flashy words but no real dept or substance there folks. Maybe if people actually took time to read the lyrics then ask why they wrote what they wrote, they'd get it. Or maybe we are speaking to a lost crowd that wouldn't know real music if it bit 'em in the arse, eh? After all, some yahoo compared the Doors (who actually WROTE their own music/lyrics) to N'Sync who only can look pretty w/ the proper make-up...I rest my case.
I think there was nothing like the doors when they were around, i think they were completley ahead of their time. They Rock Man!!!!!!!!
Actually, I got pretty indepth. Liek omg!! im sooooooo sry for not thhinkin the same as u!! lololzzzzzz! I used to be a huge Doors fan. Not only have I heard all of their studio recordings, I know all the lyrics by heart to every single one of their songs. I'm a fan of music. I know what I'm talking about. If you actually read that thread, you would see that I mentioned nothing comparing the two's songwriting capabilities. They are the same in the fact that they were immensly popular, and still are to this day, but yet there were many other great bands around, especially in the '60s. The Doors are the best band of the '60s? Hell no. That's like saying that Jimmy Page is one of the greatest guitarists of all-time. Stop following the stupid hippie trend and making real rock fans look like fools.
good god... they were not ahead of their time. I mentioned it earlier.. The Doors were a subpar version of Love. You should really listen to more music before making blank statements about nothing. If you listen to the first side of Da Capo, you'll see what I mean about them being a subpar Love. For their non-psychedelic early '70s albums, you can tell that they were inspired by The Band and The Rolling Stones.
That is only an opinion. I think, in most situations, most people either loved or hated The Doors. I personally think the band as a whole was talented and worked well together. Jim Morrison was an amazing writer/singer.
He wasn't much of a singer at all... he spoke and screamed his words and couldn't hold a note. That is not an opinion.
haha soulrebel you really have it out for the doors, but hey now i consider myself a very avid music listener and i have no problem with saying jimmy paige rocked the shit out of the guitar. But i have a question soulreber what bands do you like that are putting out stuff nowadays? You seem to know your stuff and its hard to find ppl that know more than the hugely popular bands not taht there is anything wrong with these bands but there are certaintly better or other bands out there.
I listen to plenty of music, maybe even more than you. And i dont just stay in the sixties like you. It's my opinion, and your opinion is yours. and i reckon the doors were completely different from love. Yes, i have listened to love. So dont make blank comments about me.
Oasis! Michael Franti & Spearhead Abandon Jalopy The Dandy Warhols Sky Parade The Brian Jonestown Massacre Sunstorm (www.brianjonestownmassacre.com is the only place I've found these guys... go to their mp3 section) Franz Ferdinand.... kind of. I listened to them yesterday and I turned them off out of annoyance. For solo musicians, my favorites are Neil Young, Ani Difranco, George Snow, Keller Williams, Brian Wilson, and Sara McLuachlin... Hey, check out the link in my sig.... don't you look stupid now.
