Seems like every time I post I get back and there's another reply. How is giving preferential treatment to one race giving everyone an equal opportunity? Ever heard of white trash? The majority of peoplein the United States are poor. That's just the way it is. The system is designed for the few to dominate the many. You can blame that on race.

I was commenting on the fact that the word "discriminate" doesn't require the addition of the prefix "reverse" when referring to discrimination against white people. It's all equally discrimination. There are no specific categories. And I was just messing around, I didn't mean any offense.
I agree with you then. I'm just accustomed to using the term 'reverse discrimination'. I think I do it b/c at first it blew so many people's minds that white people are actually discriminated against too, in some areas anyways. It's almost like we're not allowed to say we're being racial discriminated against (b/c we are the "oppressors") so we have to make up a new term, reverse discrimination, to make people happy. p.s. not sure if true but I did hear this... You cannot report race crimes if you are white because you are viewed as the majority (even if in your area your not)... only minorities can report racism. I hate to spread propaganda if this isn't true. Maybe someone can correct me?
It was OK for for everyone to call me a white boy in every argument when I went to a school where I was the only white kid, but if I even said the word "black" I would have been slaughtered. It seems like some people in minorities WANT to be discriminated against so they have a chance to jump all over people. For example, I was talking on some forums about how I don't like rap. A bunch of black people started calling me racist! I said they were racist because they were assuming rap is only for black people, but that just made them even more angry. You just can't reason with a person who thinks you are prejudice.
You're absolutely right. There are a lot of people who want to feel that someone is discriminating against them, when really they're being discriminatory by assuming you're racist. You can have a disagreement with someone without there being any race issues involved. Doesn't matter if someone's white, black, red, yellow, green or blue. If they're an asshole, they're an asshole.

No, it hasn't directly disadvantaged them. They're no worse off than all the poor white people who don't get shit all. I'm not saying we shouldn't help people who need it, but to only help those of a certain race is just plain racist. A great argument is that blacks in America should actually be very happy slavery existed, because if it hadn't, they'd probably be dying of Malaria in Africa somewhere. So the whole "my family was screwed over by slavery" thing is a joke.

I think the thing that is most upsetting to me is that there are many, many ethnicities living in the United States that have been wronged in past history. The Irish, the Jewish, the Italians, etc. etc. Yet how many of them really get any breaks? If you do for one, you should do for them all. And if THAT were the case, well, a vast majority of the United States would be entitled.
except, i live in canada not america "everyone is giv[en] the same opportunities" except, i wasnt. this free pool thing and swim lessons every weekend is an opportunity iwas -NEVER- given and thats the whole point. dont get me wrong i think its a great idea that there is a program to help keep kids from getting into dumb shit like drugs and violcne but i hate that its limitd by race, i thinkn thats awful. i come from a white single parent low income family, i didnt get that opportunity nor a lot of other onesn offered to folks. now thankfully i managed to turn out ok but that was sheer luck, not programs. personally id otn think there should be preferential treatment given to any race. i do however VERY strongly believe in social safety nets like this swim program i mentioned, just withou the limitations of race, aim it towards low income families regardless of teh ancestry of the kids, yknow? really try to level the playinhg field for all, not just some

At first the Africans were selling other Africans to the slave trade. I can't remember exactly but I know that they tricked there own, and rival tribes into traps....in exchange for money/food/goods/whatever from the slave trade. That's what got the ball rolling......
