oh fuck, I know. my sister-in-law has it and it's so disabling, I can't imagine. and she's only 26 or 27.
I may be able to make some recommendations about some foods and herbs to try to relieve these conditions. I'll need some more info though about the particulars of the conditions. Best of all (but more expensive) would be to see an acupuncturist
I have Osteoarthritis in all my joints. I have had both of my hips replaced. Shoulders, back and knees are the worst right now. Cold damp weather certainly does not help the situation. As much as it hurts to move, I make sure I am out walking the dog a few times a day and stretching and doing some exercise inside also. "They say" that Rheumatoid Arthritis is much worse. Hard to imagine worse. Some days I just want to stay in bed. Luckily Grace (dog) won't let me. She has to get her walks. I feel for everyone here. Some of you are so young. Arthritis is not for sissies.
Another thing that I forgot to mention, if you have arthritis in your back or legs, is to maintain a good weight. Being overweight makes the issue worse, more poundage to carry around is not a good thing. I am in this situation now. For me, maintaining a good weight depended on diet and exercise. As my pain got worse I exercised less and put on more weight. More weight, more pain, less exercise = more weight. In my case it did not help needing to have my hips replaced. Pain, previous to the operations, also decreased my exercise (a good 6-7 year period). It is hard to come back from this but I am working on it.
