i dont have a horse,i was raised around them though.. thats why i dont have one. on a small plot of land they are about the least sustainable animal there is,they have attitudes and they are to much maintenance..

I see some real bad reactions as some folks realize how very little their governments really care about them. Interesting study of how people take national guardsmen driving them out of vacant buildings into the cold to freeze to death. It's easy to ignore when the homeless are few enough to hide but when every bridge underpass shelters a squatter because every shelter, church, and relief organization is full and turning people out... or perhaps FEMA will come to the rescue.

This is something I keep trying to get through my partners help. But he is so full of 'nothing will happen to us' mentality that I could scream. I keep telling him its about preparation and being informed.

See I lean towards goats. A simple cart and they can transport you to many places. They are great pack animals, offer milk and food and forage well for thier needs. Another option would be Llama's, they too forage for thier own food, pack well and can be used to transport you but are bigger. i also lean toward goats becuase the tracks left look simular to deer tracks.
