Are we talking legal rights? Because of course some of those are revocable, that's the point of prison.

Why would people not have an equal chance before having those rights revoked?

 

some people are assumed incompetent to hold certain rights (vote, own a gun, etc.) because they are mentally handicapped, and in some state the same applies to felons.


I could argue that some people who are not mentally handicapped, but simply unwilling to use their brain should not be allowed to vote, and in effect, that there should be tests involved in being allowed to vote. have twenty four hour courses available, by phone, internet, or drop in centers, for people to study up, to be prepared to vote (their duty in a democracy)

and if they are unable, or unwilling to pass the test, they do not deserve that "right" which, honestly. is a privilege afforded them by efforts made by past generations, and maintained to provide an illusion of democracy.


but, I'm jaded, and cynical, and think that people are too stupid to deserve to vote by and large.

It's just that some people lose that "equality" by dumb actions they make.
