The anxious can be unpredictably raucous, more often than not it is sanity that is missing from the suare.
Unfortunatley, religion isn't something we can easily just not bother about, since it's such a pervasive phenomenon and it bothers a great deal about all of us. We've been held hostage for over a week by some jackass preacher in Florida and Muslim mobs waiting for their cue to go berseck. If the jackass preacher decides to back off, there are other jackass preachers now who are waiting in the wings to take over. One of our major political parties is in bed with the religious right, and may take over Congress in a few months and the entire U.S. government in a couple of years. And we haven't mentioned Ahmadenijad and Al Qaeda, and their all nuts and may soon have the bomb. Just going about our business is like whistling past the graveyard.
I need do nothing. It is not true that we have been held hostage for over a week. What we are hostage to, is the need for food, and shelter. All this other stuff is a hysterical luxury and frankly I am surprised that you buy into it.
Yes, and provided we are willing to give our sanity to such situations, insanity need not be 'sustained'.
What makes you think your sanity would be accepted? From what I hear, insanity gets full benefits, dental, living expenses....They even get an afterlife when they die. Why would anyone just give all that up? Personally, I want to f$%^ up everyone elses Social Security checks and afterlife because I'M NOT GETTING EITHER AND IM MAD ABOUT IT.
I believe that we are flesh and bone, muscle and fat, blood and skin, nothing more, with no soul, no spirit to continue after the physical body has perished. As such, I believe that we cannot become gods.
Heeh: Call it courage if you like. The self-destructive really only wish to be rid of certain experience. So they don't have to die. lol I think you're fairly patient for someone as young as you are. Think of how things must be for me! dnairb: But has the physical body perished? Do you want it to? The dead, just like the unborn, are part of ourselves.
The physical body does perish, in that its constituent parts become unrecognisable as human (an atom of carbon could come from any living thing). It is true that matter is recycled, and that we are all made up of stuff that previously existed as something else. This happens whether I want it to or not - it just happens.
no, you've got it wrong. an atheist doesn't believe anything. an atheist never uses such an action called believing. i'm an atheist because my mind never came up with the idea of god. I'm an atheist because my life is devoid of any kind of religious notions. an agnostic wouldn't say such a thing. an agnostic doesn't even know what they believe and if they believe. most of them usually agree with the existence of something greater than us, whether god or not. i don't have such spirituality in me. the person who *believes* there is no god is not an atheist. that person is a believer and he has his faith as atheism. there are people like that. I'm not that either.
Is RooRshack gunna have to link-a-bitch to wikipedia? I know what you're saying, but you're also wrong. Atheist and agnostic each cover a wide band. I'm agnostic, but that doesn't mean I ACCEPT a higher power or don't know what I think, I know exactly what I think, and I think that there is no higher power or any of that crap. I'm not a believer, in any way, but I accept the fact that I can't disprove god any more than anyone can prove it, so I'm agnostic. If I was unreasonably positive that there is no god, then I would be atheist.
Holy Monkey Turds!! You guys are STILL going back and forth about this!? My Damn neck is getting sore, it's like watching a tennis match. Listen I really don't care if you little critters believe I exist or not. Don't need any validation from my playthings. Usually I don't give a crap what you humans argue about, actually it is rather amusing. But I've been working on a new design for another universe and how I want to go about creating it, starting life, etc.,etc. but I can't even hear myself think with all the bickering going on down there. So why don't you peons just finally come to the frigging realization that you can NEVER know for a certainty whether I exist or not. I designed it that way on purpose. It was fun for the first few millenia since you critters started to form language. But I have splitting headache now and would really appreciate some quite. So drop this ridiculous "debate" and shut the hell up!! Dang, and I thought Zoroastrianism was going to be a pain in the ass!
Everybody. But since reality is subjective, Any religion might was well be true, because anyone who really beleives it will never be proven WRONG, and be conscious of it. When you're dead, you're too dead to notice that you believed in god and you're still REALLY dead.
Holy Monkey Turds!! Learn to use your mice and click on a different debate. For a big guy you're certainly doing some small thinking.
this isn't about proving god. i don't think we will ever be able to do that. just as science will evolve so will people's conception about god. if one day we will be able to travel to another galaxy, or uncover the mechanism through which universe started off so will people upgrade their god and his capabilities. the bigger and smarter the science gets the bigger and smarter the god gets. there is no end to this. there will never be no proving or disproving god. and I don't think that the task in itself is impossible. it's just that if scientists disprove the non-existence of god in one certain area (sky above us) then the believers will move it to another dimension and make their god even more omnipotent. the definition of god itself is fluid, how can there ever be proving of something that changes its meaning however people see fit? there can't be. and I'm not wrong. you have a bit warped definition of atheists. i told you again and again that atheists are people who don't use action called believing. you still keep talking about some god. this isn't about god. i don't give a fuck about the god idea. the fact that my life is devoid of it, that I don't believe in anything, that I'm completely non-spiritual, anti-religion, etc make me an atheist. I've known myself for 27 years. you don't have a clue who I am. so don't come telling me I'm this or that.
I know you keep telling me this about yourself, and it's true for a large number of people, myself included, but you are NOT "atheist". You are somewhere on the border between atheist and agnostic, because each of those is in a grey zone, and you are in a very well defined zone. But you're not atheist, stop saying that because you are certain things, atheist is certain things, you're identifying with the wrong people.
i told you--stop making it look like you know who i am. you're making it personal. i don't have the damn patience to argue with idiots. there is no god in my life. that makes me an atheist. and since you've obviously never heard of wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atheist Atheism, in a broad sense, is the rejection of belief in the existence of deities.[1] In a narrower sense, atheism is specifically the position that there are no deities.[2] Most inclusively, atheism is simply the absence of belief that any deities exist.[3] there you go. just because you identify with something I say and not with what I identify with at large doesn't mean you and I are the same thing. I don't even know why i'm typing this again. it's completely pointless cause you're just gonna reply with a post claiming 'you're not an atheist'. not a single identifiable argument in your whole literary endeavor.
narrow sense=center of atheism, go read the equivalent for agnosticism, and you'll see that you're describing a place between. The broader definition exists because people like you are unintelligent
