If you're atheist why brother so much with G-d?

Sounds a bit dull. When will we have our fill? All I know is that everyone wants to be a god. Deep down, or long ago, or once before such and such. I love it!

You're absolutely right. That's why I come here and vent from time to time.

If you see a drunk friend walking to his car are you going to avoid the confrontation and take it on FAITH that he'll make it home? God will look after him... God decides when we go anyway... right??

FAITH KILLS and sometime we feel the need to brother people about it, I sometimes wish I DIDN'T CARE!

 

I understand the sentiment however I don't understand the assignment of harm.
Metabolism is a sacrificial fire, mortality is 100%. It is a distortion to claim that lives can be saved.

 

I think more afraid to discover it is true.

 

Salvation is a fantasy, quality and duration is real.

Two reasons; (1) ignorance is not blissful and clearing your mind of the shackles of ignorance frees it for personal growth so that maybe you can contribute to some thing useful to society; but (2) more importantly, religion is the number one reason for strife in the world and is the reason most wars are fought.

 

Now that's what I mean by ignorance - atheists by definition know there is no god, and belief in any religion is, be it christianity or islam, is equally sad.

Yes, things like this happen because they are religious because the holy scripture is why they choose to do it.

This statement tells me you don't know what the word means.

This isn't true. Consider why its possible for religion to cause destruction.

1. Harm is not just a physical thing
2. This isn't about the manifestation of Harm, its about why its possible.
3. No one ever said that its religion alone causing harm on earth. Its just a fact that religion is apart it.

Most atheists in the united states were raised by religious parents; Learning something through lineage would require a parent teach it to you.

It is human nature to recognize patters, not to indulge in whimsical delusions.

I accept both parts of that that completely. Not everyone can. However, what is it exactly that makes you think we have to leave? As I said in another thread, is it possible that consciousness could reach a level where it may hold matter to itself indefinitely?

This is an excellent point. I've never heard an athiest go after buddha, muhammad, ganesh, etc. They only seem to go after Jesus and God (the christian father). Most likely because they often don't confront followers of those other faiths, also because followers of those other faiths are probably not as outspoken about their beliefs. But nonetheless, good point.
