I don't build. I do rehabs. It pays shit. Maybe there in crackerland it pays better, but up here in conservative controlled Merry-Land I couldn't make $30/yr if I worked a 60 hour week. And I feel good about my job.

Fuck builds. Too much sprawl anyway. I'm not in the business of making money for HUD anyway.

uhm...30-90 is a really vast difference in range and I would be really careful with those mortgage companies unless you have partial ownership in them or are an independent contractor and don't have sales quotas. I would start out with your rela estate license too so you can hit it on both ends (that sounded dirty lol) but seriously that's the only wage to really be succesful starting off especially if you live in an area that has cheap housing...ie-you get 3 percent as an agent (or 6 percent if you show and sell) and than 1.5 as a broker...plus take out of that notary expenses and escrow costs (espically if it's a mass group that hires people with their DRE license). I was with somone for 5 years who did it the wrong way and then went back to school to do it the right way and he was/is very good at it and does developments now...totally immoral, something I would never do but he has zero concept of immorality beyond what affects him or those close to him immediatley.

I was making about 25K at a full time collections job and i had the blockbuster job as part time.

Got out of collections and kept the part time.

i could find a job doing collections for about 26k, but i never want anything to do with that industry again.

and yes that is fastfood money at the part time.

Nah, reputable company thats been around years.
    member of BBB.
    well established client base.
i'll be getting 35%-45% commission off of fee.

difference in the amount of the annual income reflects a commission based job.
You earn what you work for.
not afraid of commission based work.

I'll be putting in some looong hours starting off though.

and yep planning on getting license (company is encourging it and will help with tuition, means more bank for them ;) )

Lynsey makes a valuable point with the real estate license. I believe it costs about six hundred dollars. One of the trainers at my job does real estate as his main job. He also does property management. He manages fifteen properties and gets ten percent of monthly rent. Once he's rented the houses out he simply has to collect rent every month.

I would remind you of one thing, being a telemarketer myself. There are always peaks and valleys in that business. One month you may bring in eight thousand. The next month you may bring in one thousand. I hope you are good at budgeting and saving.

    different strokes for different folks.
His extracurricular activities aside themnax is a fucking genius, always.
well then i guess that makes me a whore.
princapals mean shit when i cant take my son to get an MRI because i'm broke as hell.
means shit when i have to fill my tank up only 1/3 way because i gotta get diapers, cheap toliet paper, and maybe if im lucky enough a pack of cigs.

I've been poor my whole damn life and so has my entire family, still are.
I have a buzz cut that i do myself cause cant afford a decent trim somewhere that wont fuckitup.

money doesnt buy happiness, but it sure as hell makes it easier to do the things that make you happy.

And another thing zombie, i grew up with too many people who are poor and proud.

You like what you're doing great!
But if its so great why people like you have to put down others who want more?

im not going to be making a fat salary shuffling papers. I'm going to have to work my ass off like i always have. Difference would be that unlike an hourly or salary job if i work 3X as hard as the guy in the next office over im going to see the result of my labor in the form of a big fat check. No overtime need away from my kids, no time away from family because im in a buisness meeting 3 states away.

Once I have a decent client base set up and start getting refferals i can get away with working 25hr weeks and still make more money than i ever have. I talked to employees there who work 25hr weeks and still bring home 60K a year.

So call me a whore if makes you feel better, but my job will be no less dishonourable than yours.

Blockbuster is more evil than this new job offer.

Theres nothing wrong with being a loan officer.

Besides, you've got a family and I don't see how you can support them making 300 dollars a week

PS this isn't that Ameriquest company is it, I think that was the name... they are part of citi bank. They called me out of the blue once to offer some job, and ultimately it seemed like a pyramid scheme

I wasn't the one who specifically stated that taking this job would compromise my principles. You did. If you can live with it, fine. It seems to me, no matter what you do, what kind of car you drive, how nice a home you have or how much money you make, at the end of the day you still have to live with yourself and how YOU feel about it. By your own admission, your ethics are the only thing you truly own.

I may make shit for money but as you said, I love what I do. My wife is a teacher, a profession that should be HIGHLY compensated but is not, she loves her job and through her job we have great medical benefits so if my kid needed an MRI, they'd damn well get one.

Don't get your undies in a wad because I called you a whore. I actually didn't, I said if you want to be one, go ahead. It's your life, man. You asked for an opinion and I gave you one.

And another thing Shane99X... it's Zoomie, not zombie. I see how you could make that mistake, since there's a pic of a zombie there. I did that purposely so as to confuse and weed out the weak-minded, mostly Christian right-wing automatons.

    Congratulations. NOW you've been insulted.

there is something unethical about most jobs, if you look at them critically. Maybe not the exact job you do, but the industry in general.

the trees are real; but not a sufficient reason to entirely ignore the forrest.

yes there is something unethical about many occupations and industries. this is not a thing that has to be but a thing that resaults from incentives created by priorities. what ever question of policy ethics comes back to.

not an either or question, but one of finding a not too consciounse defiling balance to be healthily lived with.

it does seem to me to be a direct violation of your own principals, shane...how are you going to feel about the good income when it's going against everything you profess to believe in? is it going to be worth it? seems to me that it would totally eat your lunch, unless you've come to a new opinion about property rights. i guess ultimately, is it worth your sacrifice? i don't know that i could do something so directly against what i believe. i'd be sick inside.
