I thought I was gonna yawn as soon as I read that, but I didn't. Then I kept thinking about it, and sure enough.....two big 'o yawns.
i'm tired and my brain is burnt out...i want to go home - i need out of this place but other than that, doing great how 'bout you man?
i'm doing good...but heres my thought for the night...christian and rock do not belong in the same sentence..unless the sentence is something along the lines of "i was beating up some christians while listening to rock" ... don't get me wrong being christian is cool and all...but christian rock pisses me off...
I don't think I've ever heard a song. What are they like "You shook me all night long, Jesus" and "Cum on feel the Jesus"?
I don't have a problem with christians, (or any other faith) who aren't in my face with their beliefs. But evangelism is the cause of a lot of genocides. Other then that, I'm not a christian, and I don't really care. I live in an area that like 94% christian. I've heard it all before. And x-tian rock? Did you ever see that episode of south park? One of the best episodes. How do you make christian rock? Take old love ballads, and replace 'baby' with 'jesus'.
There are some good christian bands. Bands that many people would listen to if they weren't labled Christian. Remember what labels do now, music is music, no matter who plays it.
i have no problem with christian rock, just rock should be about the drugs and the sex and the fire without drugs, nakedness/and or gyrating and fire it really isn't rock music
So you do have a problem with Christian rock. I think you are referring to worship music, because there are many bands that are quite good, and have songs written about the "fire", and call themselves a Christian band. When they call themselves that, they don't allways mean that their songs represent Christianity, but they are simply Christians, playing rock music. Have you heard of the bands Chevelle, Thousand Foot Crutch, Live, or Switchfoot? Maybe not, but they are good, and they play at a lot of Christian festivals. Tool, and Disturbed have both used very Christianized lyrics, but it's ok to listen to them because they aren't "Christian bands". Worship music on the other hand, is meant only as music to worship with. Even when played with electric guitars, it's just another form of a hymn.
Ummm... I have heard christian rock. My mom loves that kinda music and I've been to christian rock festivals when I was a kid and the music mostly sucked. And Live is not christian rock. And tool... well, that is pretty much my favorite band and is so far from christian rock, even though if you listen to just a few of the lyrics on a few of the songs I guess you could think whatever.. but noooo
Live is very much so Christian Rock. and the album 10,00 days......well just read the lyrics. But I don't want to turn this thread into a debate on "Christian rock", so howabout a change of subject... Do you like pudding? I do
Secret Samandhi. Thanks google. I haven't listened to some alt rock in a long time. I'm going to dig through some old ass cd's while I should be sleeping tonight.
When I said some songs might lead to believe..... Yeah, I meant some of ten thousand days but that still doesnt make them christian rock...espiecially because the "christian" lyrics on there have a semi-sarcastic layer to them even though it is a very serious album Anyways....... I like pudding. Plain vanilla pudding is the best. Lodui.... I hang out with the members of Live at Otter Creek YEAARRRS ago (lived very close to there)..... going through old albums is always interesting.
I never said Tool is Christian Rock, I infact stated that they are not a Christian band. 10,000 days has a lot of Christian Lyrics, and I didn't find any sarcasm in them at all. To me the album seems to show that through the death of his Mother, Maynard found his faith. And Live...come on now, listen to the lyrics. Or read them if you can't understand them. A lot of their songs lean on the worship side.
That's pretty cool. I liked 'em a lot back in the day. Back in the day I was like 15, but whateva. I've met a lot of famous people who I didn't particularlly care for. If you consider k1 welterweights or UFC people famous, I know a few pretty well. I think my sister's probably going to end up being famous, if she ever ends up publishing more. She's a brilliant writer. Extremelly gifted, and every sentence she spins can take on several levels. Um, I know a couple people who could be darwin award winners in the future.
