    We all have emotions.
Once we realize our mistakes though, the wise ones will feel badly about what they have said/done.
Some people act before they think, it's just our human condition.

We got a new car last summer, it's a 2001 Explorer Sport Trac.
    I hate the bloody thing.
    Technology makes me sick sometimes...
What ever happened to real cars?
    Good cars?
Cars that you could car-pool and what not in?

oh yes, the magic of an e5 power chord

if you start playing guitar, its almost impossible for you to have any love for punk music anymore.

    Guess so.

Besides, its not all the E5 power chord. Maybe shitty punk songs consist of that alone, but come one, we're big boys now.

you make it sound like you've mastered the guitar and have been playing it for years...i personally love punk rock. i have tons of friends that are in punk bands and they are all awesome guitar players too...just because you personally dont have love for punk music because you're an ultra amazing guitarist or something (or at least you act like it...im not saying you are or arnt) doesnt mean other guitarists dont.

Man, all you guitar kids need to realize that punk is trash. I've been in a punk band, and I've even been recorded on a decent label when it was in it's early stages. I have no respect for punk, death metal, and most rock. I give it all to the roots of it all... the blues and the bluegrass that inspired it. Musically speaking, not even the famed Eddie VanHalen is all that great. He's just fast... and he looks stupid.
Now Page and Plant? There's a combo for ya! Page was beyond any form of punk you can imagine. He took it to the roots and even invented shit he had no idea was already predefined. I don't really know all that much about theory, but I do know that Van Halen is easily reproduced. Show me a band that can accurately reproduce Freebird and I'll start listening. And I mean it has to meet my approval and I'm a licensed Freebirdologist! I got me a PhD. kids! I'm totally self taught, but I know my tabs, and I know that punk has never wowed anyone who knows what they're talking about, and that's why it's easily peddled, and a fading style. Real musicians are working hard to learn the harder shit like fingerpicking, alternative tunings (tunings other than standard E), and different chord progressions. Hell, I put down the electric and got a banjo and I'm serious... bluegrass is a WHOLE different world where even the most basic picker can surpass any rocker of any style. Listen to some Ralph Stanley and Earl Scruggs and think about learning that shit note for note and tell me that Van Halen is still good... Man, he looks like a neophyte....

As far as the guy who started this forum goes... man... this is called HIP forums... not punk forums, not death metal forms, and not emo/sadists forums either.... go make your own damn forums if you got beef, but otherwise feel free to spread some peace and love with us hippies... We don't tend to appreciate being dissed like that, and it's not cool. Let hippies have the freedom they deserve... what are we? the gypsies of the Americas? Feels like it sometimes bro.... thanks....

so you're trying to say fast music is valueless? dunno man... thats a hard claim to make. if i'm heading to a party in a car packed full of people, slamming down beers and and belting out the words, nothing will stoke me as much as a good pennywise song or maybe propaghandi. i'd never encourage anyone to listen to exclusively punk... but then again i'd never tell anyone to listen only to any single genre. as to this being hip forums not punk forums... well i don't exactly label myself by the type of music i listen to, and i kinda think that anyone who does is limiting themselves.

those are true words man. I was simply responding to what the dude at the beginning said and then i noticed these guys who posted above me talking about music. I'm not saying fast music is completely valueless... I guess I exagerated a bit there... I'm just saying that it's not something that makes music something valuable. Just because punk might have this "edge" on other music right now, and because it might seem like the way... that doesn't mean it is. When I'm feeling down or sad, I don't go listen to Sex Pistols or Rancid... hell no, I go turn on some Allman Bros, or who knows... maybe even some Anthony Hamilton or some Skynyrd. I listen to it all too man, but just because someone thinks it's cool to come on this site and diss the hippies here, I don't think that's something I can agree with.

Pennywise, System of A Down, etc.... man, those are simply groups who these new "rockers" are all about that I simply can't stand. That's my own take on it. I'm not saying you gotta believe it and that it's the gospel truth. I'm just stating my opinion man. I've played their music, and I've found it to be easily reproduced and pumped out to the masses. I need something more personal for me... after all... music is about expression, not getting someone "stoked" while they slam down beers and belt out the words. The real art is when you can make people feel the same way without selling out on yourself and your own talent and expression. Having been there, and having done that... I know what I'm talking about man. I have no respect for them. If you wanna get stoked and belt out some words while your slamming down beers, then try some Irish pub music, or some country... I don't agree with identifying myself with what I listen to either... and I'm not ashamed to venture away from the mainstream to find music that "gets me off," musically speaking. Pennywise can keep on doing what they do, and that's fine... I'm not against them personally, but musically, yeah... I think they could do better, but they don't... so that's my issue. If you allow yourself to be hindered by the labels you work for and the masses you produce to, then I think you've lost your vision, and that's when I lose my respect.

Seeing as I have 7 kids I got used to hearing all type of music. As long as the kids didn't complain about my music I didn't complain about their music....thank God for headphones!
