Karaoke is a joy, unless if it you stuck at your neighbors house listening to a lonely seven year old scream high school musical songs t you for hours straight. That, my forums friends, is no fun at all.

I would feel very out of place in the uniform, but if I had to do it for the dread forum, I'd do it!!! I would need to be very drunk first.

haha god you gotta be fucking kidding
that whole area was all crack and heroin and alcahol destroyed
the 1st month there we musta picked up 500,000 crack viles and at least 100,000 needles a week..bags and bags of em
in fact thye sign for the garden was a mosaic of emty viles and discarded needles
the deallers after moving theyre operations out of site outta respect months later joined us settu=jnbg up theyre own tobaco garden and horsseshoe pit and hosted community picnics and helped with neighbourhood cleanups
the 1st months there were rough..well weeks anyway.. we were shot at..had bottles thrown at us stuff stolen, but oncve they realized who we were and what we were doing there thery supported us and protectred us

a real crackhead is just a person with an illnerss just like a real drunk

in fact one homeless crackhead wandered into the wrong area, the other side of the ave and was stabbed 4 times (luckily none deep no real dammage except from tyhe kidney kicking) he came crawling to us for help, collapsing right next to the adobe oven..the firetruck that came to help pulls right up next to the oven, which trechnicaly was illegal..they ask what we cook in it and we tell em, he came back the next day with 200 pounds of cheese for a huge pizza party

in fact i just found pics from the early days in an old backup cd ..
i'll try to post em in a few min

A crackhead is the most selfish person in the world and would never return stolen items or give a laptop to someone. You put yourself on a pedestal far too often. Though annoying, your arrogance is highly enjoyable and positively laughable.

    You know what, guys?

    I've never 'lol'ed.
    I mean, I've 'laugh out loud'ed.
but I don't think I've ever uttered the phrase lol.

I feel like I shouldn't be allowed on the internets.

Well, someone say something funny so I can attempt to lol

    cant find the pictures now

but ill tell you a few stories for now
year 1. all the kids in the hood wandered around in gangs throwing rocks at strangers, very withdrawn and antiosocial, almost all had lost theyre fathers to drugs or drug violence
on our main lot was a huge trach filled shack owned by a bootleggor whjo just collected trash.. then there was cheif what a world (or so he was called becaisehe called everyone cheif and randomly threw his arms in the air and yelled "what a world" he was an old drunk bluesman who was always drunk and although he was a great musition all his songs seemed to be variations of 1 song ..the chorus of which was..what a world... the lot had 2 huge ginko trees that where where the junkies would shoot up hidden under the trees..across the street was a lil corner where any time of day or night ya might see someone takin a shit on the sidewalk
when cleanning up the lot we found besides the drug items ..lots and lots of condoms and disgarded underwear..prostetution was pretty heavy there and toothless old ladies would beg to blow ya for a quarter..yea it was despoerately sick

i had nothing to do with initialy turning things around that was my freinds with a rainbow kitchen bus (they always wanted to remain sanonomouse online but since they now have a web pressence ill tell u its these guys) http://blip.tv/file/1614523
they started things by giving away 3tons of fresh produce a week and serving about 3000 mealks a day..the best food uever had
we built an adobe oven alowed some of the crackheads to camp there if they wanted to help out..and even hselped a couple get treatnment, we got bikes for dozens of them too..probly oiver 100 bikes
haloween came around and we held a party that drew over 2000 kids from a 3 state area

after 2 months they left lewaving a void and i was asked daily when theyd be back i treied starting my own kitchen but lacked the support vehicles for supply runs so 2 freinds joined m,e (1 profoundely retarded but nice as can be and smart enough to avoid crack) me michele and candyman decided to turn the area into a garden
the kids who were withdrawn and vuiolent joined us and we started craft classes did feild trips had talent shows and started tutoring them too..these kids blossomed and changed completely
this whas when the drugs moved out of sight outta respect, they moved to the ave by the deli, just as block bnut it was a hughe help..
bodi, the bootleder thsat owned the shack lived between the ave and garden and a junky from the other side of tye ave (still very dangerouse) broke into his house and bodi killed him and wass arressted (at almost 80 years old) his shack was torn down by tye city, this is when the dealers set up theyre own garden and everything where the shack was
the whole neighbourhood was supporting us exvcept the church that bussed in rich f\olks from all over (tv evangelist types) (all other loical churches suported us as fdid all citywide polititions) the congresswoman and councilwoman as well as mayor were working on getting us the last 3 remaining buildings on the block for a dollar each so we started the rising phoenix artists collective a 501c-3 non profit i was on the board of (im probly now the only board member)

what you dont udeerstand donkey is ultimate selfishness cant beat ultiomate generosity.. the more we gave the more they respected that and wanted to give to.

in the 1st year the horticultural society awarded us the best new garden in thre city..based solely on the feel of the place how everyonbe who drove by stopped to wagbve and smokle or camer to help out how the deallers took part ..other gardens in the running looked pristine, ours still had piles of broken bricks and truckloads of wood and whatnot scattered all over
by year 3 people came fromall over the country to campo there and help out, it earned the name "lots of love" and expanded to 6 lots in the area including the kids garden, and the elders garden by the retirement home
truckers and cab drivers and random ppl dropped by unknown to help..at 3-4 am youd see people there gardening that noone knew and artwork would show up on the fence in the middle of the night from unknown artists (after 3 years we did find out where they came from)
there wass a piucnic table that always had food on it but noone knew where the food came from..presumablrey ther crackheads themselkves
the kitchen came back every year for 2-3 months at a time for hmm 5 or 6 years (then the bus blew up) year 4 i think it was we set up nightly movies in the gardejn and would hagbve as many as 100 crackheads outr there watching movies, then wed have a jam after..
for many it became theyre favorite place to hang in the citry (i dont mean the crackheads i mean random foljs who helped out) and people including me would even take dates there..it was m,agical..camping there, the entire neighbopurhood watched out for ya, brought u food offered ya a place to shower..u name it..the media stumbled on us a few times too we never tried tio get attentioin but ended up on the news a few times

year 7 and 8 however things went south.. everyone involved in the non proffit moved away.. everyone who helped out at the garden too, it was left to me and candyman to care for a garden larger then a block and then the drugs swooped back in.. and the most we could do was clean up the thousands of needles so no kid would get aids by stepping on 1..then year 8 the bulldozers levelked the block to build new houses, but the night b4 they did..hunbdreds came out to have a all night vigil and share memmories..and a few tears too..it was thye end of an era oh waiut i posted pics before on here http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=227647&f=58
    and
    http://www.hipforums.com/newforums/showthread.php?t=114144&f=58

ah damn no pics there eitherr the site with the pics is long gone

but when i said that ppl came from all over the country its cause someone posted on agr about it and rainbows all over the countryt were watching whast we were doing and a couple other small scale projects popped up other places

one of the kids that spent the most time there was from la
but most of the year wed have at least as couple tents there (or 1 dread just slept under the stars)
and we also would have a feww ppl living in the buildings we were trying to get from the city..

today budd st is once again a dangerouse place for most people..and even i am not totaly confy there being that a few ppl are new and dont know me..but still in general i feel more well protected there then anywhere
cause even the most desperatre people around recognize when you try to do something good for them,..
