Some just joined this morning or last night and didn't know that.

You know I don't always post just for you, sometimes I post as though I'm thinking out loud. :toetap05:

Using absolutes is not prudent in a sociological discussion.

It is useful to remember that all of human society and culture forms within a certain environment or context. The exact problem with your logic is that you are looking at the recent past. Before the phenomenon of globalization, people lived in smaller, often egalitarian societies.

In other words, because I gave no specifics for how we ended up on the island, the details about the island itself, and the environment that surrounded the island (this includes the sociological environment) you cannot definitvely claim that we would end up the same way on hipforumisland as we are in today's society.

once again, these absolutes that you are using make your argument incorrect.

Also, people assume they are acting in their best interests; that they are acting rationally. However, this fallicy can be seen in...Poor Americans voting for Republican candidates in elections, for instance ( :D ). If you look from a social identity perspective, it is seemingly in the best interest of a group member (us) to follow the norms and behaviors of our in-group (hipforumsisland). dissenting members of groups are often punished otherwise.

Isn't it about time for the island git-down to commence?

dont think things have been too egalitarian since nomadic/tribal hunting and gathering times but i guess that was kind've your point.

in addition to repopulation director, i nominate myself sand castle builder and pointy stick maker.

I think it would be individually and collectively beneficial for all of us to learn new skills from one another. Does anyone know how to spear fish? I know it has something to do with the way the water distorts the position of the fish...

Yes, I did notice that you do follow the theory that the mob rules all and any who differ should be singled out and punished....

The fact that we disagree on such a fundamental issue is exactly why what I said would happen... will happen...

We haven't even hit the island yet, and you have already made it clear that those who differ from your perception of the norm, will not be equals...
