It is useful to remember that all of human society and culture forms within a certain environment or context. The exact problem with your logic is that you are looking at the recent past. Before the phenomenon of globalization, people lived in smaller, often egalitarian societies.

In other words, because I gave no specifics for how we ended up on the island, the details about the island itself, and the environment that surrounded the island (this includes the sociological environment) you cannot definitvely claim that we would end up the same way on hipforumisland as we are in today's society.

Also, people assume they are acting in their best interests; that they are acting rationally. However, this fallicy can be seen in...Poor Americans voting for Republican candidates in elections, for instance ( ). If you look from a social identity perspective, it is seemingly in the best interest of a group member (us) to follow the norms and behaviors of our in-group (hipforumsisland). dissenting members of groups are often punished otherwise.

I think it would be individually and collectively beneficial for all of us to learn new skills from one another. Does anyone know how to spear fish? I know it has something to do with the way the water distorts the position of the fish...
