Fire
Clay oven
Outhouse
Wooden huts

To introduce solar energy or any other kind would mean maintenance, money, and possibly outsiders. It just doesn't seem practical.

I take exception to this.

With all of the sunny personalities we have a running start on solar energy. Maintenance of this is low. All it takes is daily injections of joy.

Plus I want to build a solar oven.

 

No, by that I state quite clearly that the reason we are where we are now, is because that is human nature.... to claim anything else is to ignore reality...

If you try to pretend otherwise, you are setting yourself up to fail. The BEST you could hope for, is to repeat history and end up where we are now...

Although I will 100% agree that we are all born equal, some people choose paths that make it so they are no longer equal... Someone who works along side of me and puts as much effort into our mutual survival as I do, is my equal... nobody else is.

If you don't want to go back through the history of mankind as a species to see what I mean, then just go back over the last 50 years... look at the communes and other ICs that have started up and failed... look at the ones that have started up and thrived...

The majority failed.... the majority of those that didnt fail, turned their commune into a commercial operation and are basically using slave labor to profit... (all in the name of the community of course)...

Any place that starts with... everyone is welcome with no conditions... is a fail...

Solar is one of the first and best sources to harvest... Don't confuse technological active solar systems with passive ones.

The wooden huts part... good for temporary shelters, but unless this island is in a magical zone where no storms happen, I would prefer to find some caves for us, or dig into a hill somewhere.

The first and most important thing, would be shelter (of any type), then it is a source of water... then a source of food...

Anyone who doesn't help with those, gets fed to BBad...

This is true. It is next to impossible to treat everyone equally off the bat. One proves they're an equal by sharing the load equally, and caring for the community in the same way others do.

I'm all for a daily dose of happiness, I just think if we go with anything that needs maintenance that we're unable to provide for ourselves, we're asking for trouble.
