I guess I should have made more clear that my comment was just that I found Vinces post interesting personally, not that i thought this was what OP was looking for. Pay attench Sir :)

Totally get it, absolutely the price of land in most big cities is expensive, SF, LA and NY being down right like an Indian cast system... wtf can afford land at a million plus an acre? only reason i can live where i do is because i grew up here. for the average Joe to move to NY or SF and actually buy land/housing, pretty much eliminates a serious 80% of people and probably way beyond OP's resources.
And ya, Georges link is killer, thanks Sir George !

Well, desert land does tend to be much cheaper than other land types. And if they can be close enough to towns/cities, one can still make trips for food and water.

You wouldn't necessarily need to farm and such in the desert, and living in a harsher climate does stress community effort a LOT more for survival (one would think) so anyone could set up some Yoruks, and have a village of sisterly/brotherly/co-ed love. Mostly, I was just pointing out a couple who were offering land to people who wanted to try experiments and such.

Sorry about not responding, my computer's been down the last few days.

    Anyway!

Thanks for all the suggestions so far. :) It sounds like this will definitely have to remain a pipe dream for me...but I'll find some other way to get what I want! I always do! :p

Don't give up, keep working and saving money, and consider the land deeply... Do you need lush green, or would you be able to cope with barren lands like a desert? I mean, you can get like..... 50+ acres in of desert lands for $25,000+ in the US, cause no one really wants to live in the desert, or thinking of ways TO live in the desert

Well, it has to be in LA one way or another, but I know it won't be possible for me to own any land or anything like that anytime soon.

But I wonder if there is a way to reach out to those that might already own land or co-op houses and might be interested in working with me somehow? Just a thought. I know someone mentioned that woman in Lucerne Valley, but I wonder if there's a way to try to match up with someone that might be in LA and want to team up to make this fabulous dream a reality. :p

I mentioned the Lucerne Valley, and it might not be terribly far, would you be able to live with commuting?

EDIT:::: Hmm... two hours, ick, nevermind

Lol! Yeah I'm not a GA fan and I'm actually from NY (I was very reluctant to change my location to this hell hole) so the memes are funny to me too!
