To be fair, I'm pretty liberal, like thinking all drugs should be legal, but I have to wonder how someone gets consecutive drug felonies, as it takes to get a special drivers liscense.

 

Simple, you get caught twice with drugs and have a shitty lawyer, it's really not that hard to get felony drug possession, especially in strict states.

 

But since that could only happen in the South the solution is to go North if you want to use drugs.

 

I live in texas, and it's four ounces of pot before it becomes a felony.

They often use drug courts, adjudicated sentences, and the like as a means of light sentencing here. I realize it's a different state, but I doubt an adjudicated sentence would count towards that number.

And I've been a habitual daily smoker since being old enough, and never been caught.

Just sayin.

 

Not everyone is into just weed though, what about the person with an ounce of shrooms, or your local cokehead, your local acid head ect. The fact you never been caught either doesn't make up for the hundreds of thousands of people arrested with marijuana every single year. Marijuana isn't where this law is directed at, in most states you need a lot of pot to have felony possession.

For the record, here's an example of easy it can be to be charged with a felony, and in this case said person didn't even have drugs on them, what happens when you go to court and you actually had drugs.

Though that was in South Dakota, not Louisiana.

i dont like how this is targeted at the south, the north isnt too much better. When you actually come down here its a different story. Im not gonna lie, the south's problem is they are too attached to religion and traitional ways but so are midwest states, you just never hear of them in the news. Look at how many so called "tollerant" states kept gay marriage illegal. Im not saying that its okay, im just sayin the south isnt much different from the rest of our country. Some southern states are more progressive than others. In Big cities in the south gay discrimnation isnt much of a problem. ATL and Charlotte gay scenes are awesome. Its usually just the small towns of 4,000 peope that are problems.

This is exactly the problem, the south is extremely rural, and it's overall culture is extremely religiously conservative. Just because there are liberal center doesn't change the overall demographic, just like New England has some extremely conservative places it doesn't change the overall demographic of New England generally being pretty damn liberal. This is important since the culture someone grows up around is what influences them for a large part of their life.
