See, this is the problem.... People keep sitting back and saying that they want something done, but don't want to do anything. In a better world, the cops would be arrested, investigated and charged.... We don't live in a world like that though. If you want to live in a world like that, then you have to help make it that way. You have to decide what the issue is worth to you. Is it worth writing to an elected official? Is it worth writing CNN and asking them to focus on it, maybe get an interview? Is it worth starting a protest out in front of the station? You decide what it is worth to you, and from there, you can decide what it will be worth to others.
This is an excellent way to get characterized as lawless thugs as a means of distracting from the issue. The police were behaving like the lawless thugs themselves and what happened to the OP could happen to any of us. Rioting and creating chaos just creates a new crisis for the criminal politicians to justify taking away more freedoms and deepening the police state that has begun to take root. The best way to combat the problem is with video proof... they know this and that is why there's a movement afoot to bar people from doing just that. By essentially making it illegal to expose police brutality without the express consent of the police themselves... (pause to think that one through thoroughly) ... they are looking to enable it to happen more and more... effectively discrediting the entire concept of "law enforcement" as well as the few who conscientiously pursue that honest concept while wearing a uniform-- It becomes nearly impossible to remember that there are a few "good" cops when we see shit like the results of OP's beating ...
Although I agree that will accomplish more then running rampant such as was suggested, I don't see it as doing anything. We already know what the result of doing that is, they pass laws to stop the videoing... Until we (the people), actually stand up and stop accepting such behaviour (and others like it) as one voice, none of it means anything... As it is now, as each person wakes up and realized that all is not well in the world, the powers that be find ways to discredit them one by one...
Part of that behavior is the passage of laws narrowing our freedoms and limiting their accountability. That tends to leave few options for people apart from rioting and criminal mischief- making it child's play to discredit them.
Tell that to Reginald Denny and all the other people beaten or had their business burned to the ground and trashed. Your a fucking moron. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bEG2AMaM7w"]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1bEG2AMaM7w
That's why it will never change as long as people don't stand togethor and speak as one... Look around, I don't see it moving towards where people will do that. By the time most get to the point that they have been screwed in one way or another by the system, and are ready to take a stand, they are usually focused on their own screwing (so to speak)... Each and everyday there are more and more separate groups and organizations that are all working for their own purposes... As long as people are divided like this, expecting change is futile.
people are divided. there is no unifying issue. also, there are ALOT of ignorant americans that are totally brainwashed by the government. so good luck convincing them. for real!!!
There are also A LOT of Americans totally brainwashed by the counter culture that decries against the government. I choose to look at both sides from a sensible, rational and logical perspective. What is going to really work? My guess is the answer lies somewhere in the middle. THAT is what is needed more in this country than any ideas from the extreme sides of either camp.
Just americans? lol The divisions that exist are only there because we choose for them to be there... That unifying issue that you say doesn't exist? We're all 100% dependant on this planet being healthy.
i just think that after vietnam ended there was no unifying force to bring together a whole lot of change. it's only after people start losing their freedoms and shipped off to war that they start to actually give a crap. for some reason people just don't care as much in a peactime society, which is really a massive problem.
I have never gotten my ass kicked by a cop and I have been arrested a few times you wanna know why? Because I don't talk back to the cops or spit on them for that matter!! Duh!
I've talked hella shit to cops and they slammed my face into a brick wall while I was handcuffed. The reason I was talking shitis because they didn't tell me what I was being charged with, after I asked them repeatedly. Fuck those bitches. I'd like to peel the skin off their faces and shove it down their throats. Sounds like a shitty situation, Vontae. I hope you find a way to make them regret that shit. Good luck.
I suspect that power brokers are on to this... people are too comfortable and I see far less real connections between people outside of the job and immediate family... no real sense of community and no outward evidence of the understanding that what is done to your neighbor today can be done to you tomorrow. Life supplies a seemingly inexhaustible stream of "someone else" for shit to happen to... for rights to be violated. It's okay for instance for the government to conduct a warrantless search of your hard drive in order to protect corporate profits. I mean, it's ok to happen to someone else because they were stealing... ok- but where does it stop? Do we expand our tolerance to allowing investigators to gain access to history lists to ensure nothing subversive, extremist, or the ever popular supporting terrorism is being posted on the net from that computer? I see a lot of comments that seem to insinuate that the OP may have brought a bit of it on himself-- and I can't entirely dismiss that but are police not taught to be able to handle situations with cool heads? Yes, I'm sure at this point Vontae8390 may be appreciating the wisdom of that on a new level and I'm forced to grant the same leeway of bad judgment that I was given at that stage... though I never had to learn the hard way about provoking cops. Whether or not they were deliberately spit on the police grossly overreacted. They chose to escalate the matter far beyond what it needed to be. To allow it to go on unquestioned will guarantee that it will happen again and again... and with just a little less provocation each time.
You're also a girl though, cops are not going to hurt girls without good cause. Cops generally have no problem beating the crap out of guys at the slightest provocation.
The masters learned over the years.... give the slaves just enough illusion of freedom that they won't get up and demand more. If the slaves do start making demands, then they find a way to distract them... Look at how many people will argue that they are free, even though the only real choice they have is where they are a slave... As for the OP and those who suggest it was his fault... Being drunk and obnoxious is a reason to toss someone into the drunk tank for the night... not beat the shit out of them...
Not true at all... I know of a specific incident where not only was a girl on the receiving end of fucked up cops, but she was also a one legged one. When they demanded that she drop to the ground and she struggled to do so without falling on her face (because of her prosthetic leg) they grabbed her, spun her around and slammed her into the ground. Before it was all done, they had taken her leg from her, threatened to charge her with assualting a police officer. You know what she did to provoke them? She filmed them... Age isn't a barrier either... There is this public pool in one of the towns I grew up in. Everyone would sneak into it at night and go swimming (it was an outdoor pool)... One night this rookie cop and his partner (who stood back and watched), caught some kids sneaking in. After having them all line up against the fence with arms and legs spread, the one kid was being mouthy, so the rookie cop SHATTERED his wrist with his billy club... End result, the kids got charged with break and enter, trespassing and public mischief... the rookie cop was transfered away to another detachment (due to death threats)... oh, and that kid, will have a fucked up wrist for the rest of his life...
That's fucked up bro. It's cool to put a face to a name. Fuck the popos! I guarentee they don't even have any evidence of you 'spitting' on them. their word against yours and i bet they'll win yea right, like you smashed your own face, fuck those cowards, they're nothing without their guns and numbers. 1 on 1 they'd fall
