I always wanted to be a shape shifter as a kid. That way I could be a lion, or some other animal. Of course when I was really young I wanted to be a mermaid.

now this reminds me of a story i read, on BOTH counts!

it was by someone called 'san', short i think for cassandra. this was on elfwood and i think she married another elfwoodian. (all that's been 'a couple' of years now)

at any rate it was indeed a story about a gay pirate ship and they caught this shape shifting seal (aka sule scurrie, however that's spellt) and turned him into a cabin boy, gay games etcetera ensuing, and of course they had damd near killed him hauling him on board.
