i tried that once. it was enough for me. it just further cemented my dislike for any activity that requires strapping something to your feet. i don't like shoes, either.
Russian books , or non English arent really plugged in English schools. In our schools ,people get told Tolstoy's "the really long one" ,"Dostoyevsky had a beard" , Pushkin is "the black one who's grandfather came to Russia on an elephant who got took out in a swordfight" In England , its usually Shakespeare , Dickens , Chaucer and those comedians Or that crossdresser George Eliot. I actually think all literature has its audience and often its day passes. I'm always reading about Shakespeare's and Ancient Greek play structures (for my own novel)but unless theyre brought forward to the relevant era they can be a bit flat entertainment wise IMO. My uncle was a Russian playwright.I never bothered with his books tho , old stuff. To me literature is either a skill to learn , or just fun.I dont follow the "you *must* enjoy this" routine..
yea, pretty much the only reason why i know some Russian authors and literature - and i don't know much - is because my house has a library of books. mom worked at a bookstore and encouraged me to read.
i imagine, piaf, that your experience with russian literature in school is more due to a regional variation. i can't imagine, if you were delving in depth into the great russians, that you were spending a great deal of time on american authors for example. hearing of someone and really studying them deeply are two entirely different things.
I wish i never quit violin. I played for years then turned into a teenager and quit for guitar I want to start playing violin again. and start belly dancing again.

it gets so into you too. you start like moving your hips everywhere. and walking and doin some moves, or waiting in line and moving your feet.
