I tried to help a band and this happens..

I wouldn't talk like this if I couldn't back it up. If anyone wants to challenge me to a guitar/drum duel I'd be glad to go make a vid and kick anyones ass.

You guys just don't get it... Of course this is an act! I talk like this to grab people by the fucking balls... Doing it on the internet is pretty gay I admit but it's good practice for real life when I have to talk to club owners and shit.

Trust me when I talk to actual club owners I change my whole vocabulary. I wouldn't risk an owner turning one of my shows down just so I can talk like an asshole... I save that for the people that get on my nerves.

i would like to see some of your drumming. i played percussion in high school band, but the best i can do is keep simple beats on a set. i have a feeling that you mostly do super fast double bass hits...blastbeats? which is difficult, and which i couldn't do, but wouldn't really impress me. all my best friends growing up were in bands. some of them still are. one was a kick ass drummer (but lazy and unreliable). his dad went to berkley for drumming. one of the bands he was in was on the local radio, had articles in the paper, were gonna tour the east coast (they didn't though...see laziness), oh yeah and booked shows. they never acted as douchy as you

When it comes to me promoting everything is about money, I don't fucking care what you do, if you can sell out a club/bar/barn with animals I will promote your band.

I know most of the bar owners who allow metal Open Jams... Having the owner tell them "there's already too many bands here" wouldn't be hard... My band could just accidentally go on before them and play until closing time... Who knows, I'm the one who tells people when they go on. I would never play at a club where I'm not buddies with the owner.

It wouldn't be ironic if they did that, it would be a dream.

 

not true, it sounds weird but it depends on the genre they are playing, and how long they have been around. however in my experience most metal musicians are assholes, and rappers too

It is their dream, they do happen. Life at times is actually quite funny that way.

Lets put it this way, if I didn't want them to play in Hamilton all I would have to do is not put them on the bill...

I do all the local shows for young bands.. There isn't even another promoter who works with the bands I do, so if they don't like it.... Tough mellons.

dude, i didn't just pick triathalon out of nowhere. it took me a solid 30 seconds to come up with that.

1) i ride my bike to work everyday. it snows here, probably more than it does on the other side of lake ontario.

2) i was on the swim team in high school, and i was way better at that than the drums

3) i don't run very much, and i smoke weed everyday....but the same is probably true for you and i could count on 1) and 2) to be enough

I am only speaking from personal experience. After working in audio engineering for 8 years I have worked with a whole slew of professional and amateur bands. Most were total dicks. Pretty much everyone of them were jerks unless their music was popular prior 1970. Donovan/Alan Parsons were probably the coolest. The guitarist for little feet was also very cool but I can't remember his name. SR71 total assholes, I wanted to punch the singer in the face.

 

Blastbeats aren't supposed to be hard, I actually get annoyed when people say "do you hear those insane blastbeats yooo!!!". Blastbeasts are really just super fast eigths on the snare with kicks that are either right on the dot or going double time.

Next time we jam (tomorrow) I'll record some shit for you, if I hook up drumagog in time you'll get to hear the new drum mics in use.. If I don't have time we'll just use the handy Zoom recorder with my dads camera..

Either way it's just another day at the office for me.

He didn't get anywhere because he was lazy, I'm constantly working. I'm making an Advert poster for a show next month as I type this (I really should be doing that) and that's why things are working out for me.

I may always be busy, but at least I'm having "a blast".

but yeah, you're right about my lazy friend. good for you if you are really making it man. but remember to keep that ego in check. do you need to go back to eating mushrooms? not saying i'm perfect either, as i'm sure much of what i've said could be seen as ego flaunting...whatever, i know we are both just joking around.

when you record the drums, get something of JUST drums.

'jus sayin... They're younger than you, they're GOING to depend on their parents more than you, after all they're DEPENDANTS, and live off of them, and you're still borrowing your dads stuff... Rage at the parents, but cut the kids some slack, it's not their fault they've got shitty parents, luck of the draw and all.

 

I only use it so I can make 2 cam mixes.. I have my own camera that has a microphone worth well over 300$ that I put into it.
