San Francisco is not what it used to be at all. If you ran away there you would probably have a very hard time just trying to survive. The cost of living is 4 times than where you are from.

So won't your parents let you start a band? You can always put your music online and get an online following until your legal age to move out.

Look into Austin, Texas. There are some very cool and hip people with a great music scene there.

see, you only hear what you want to hear. Yeah, they had fun...until the drugs controlled their life. Trust me, the goal in their lives was not to get strungout in a hotel hallway. They wanted to play music and got caught up in hard drugs in addiction. You wanna get into addiction and death and hold a guitar while you do it.

I'm just going to take it as it comes. If my band is partying then I'm going to join them. I'm listening to this AWESOME song called Sex Drugs and Rock 'n Roll.

I think you should learn about frank zappa. One of the best things to happen in rock n roll and he never did any drugs at all.

Hey i met steve adler from gnr backstage after one of his gigs earlier this year. He was a complete mess. His performance was ok, but in real he was just a mumbling idiot.

I ran away this time last year, when i was 15. I only lasted 1 day on the streets before i turned up at a mate's house. It's a nasty place. You have to stay up all night and sleep in the day so you can guard yourself at night. I live in a supposedly really good area but it was still super rough at night. Especially being a girl. You really need to be with someone else so you can look out for each other and take turns to sleep.

I wouldn't dream of running away again, and i only had a 1 day experience. I was able to live at various mates' houses for a few months after that though before social services dragged me back home.

I really don't think your 'freedom' would be very fun. I wouldn't suggest it, but meh

I'm not competely trashing him.. he gave us some of the best weed i've ever had :D

Just he doesn't seem to be having the best time right now.. after firing all of his band. When we saw him, he was playing with a not-so-high-key gnr tribute band, with him on drums.

He was an addict who's addictions got in the way of music. If you think the only reason the way he is is because of a stroke then you're mistakesn.

And you would have thought that he would quit the hard drugs after a stroke.. but he's still using.

Isn't looking all that great either

Wait your 18 to escape physically... but in the 2 followin years you can escape spiritually with or without drugs ... I know without is harder... i dont want to lead u in a druggy way as a black sorcerer ... if u take soft drugs without excess ...it can t be bad
I dont know why i told u that ... I m sure that your already using marijuana at less...

    Before your 18
You can do a lot of things to prepare your "voyage"

    - Cultive yourself by readin beatniks classic books...
    - About 70s cinema (4 ex:The New Hollywood by Biskind) ;
    - Watching a lot of classic or good 70s movies and learn more about this era
    - searching and discoverin the rock n roll treasures of the 60s & 70s (there s much more than the usual same records...as good as they are)
Psychedelic music can be a much wider experience...
    - Prepare a more or less a plan when u want to definitly travel...
    - Dont loose your time ...continue to make music and learn more guitar ... we can only progress ...& form a 1st band ...even if its just an embryonic experience ... it will be the 1step who will lead you to climb higher in your futur musical xperience ...

    - Read books about the Hippie movement ... the historic context and the philosophical books or poet books ...
    - Watch more & more rock n roll 60s 70s DVDs...
    etc...

Became a more complete cultivated RevoltDictionnary...
Then make the step out of your mum & dad house...
Cause you will have a lot of difficulty to have all i have told as street survivor (hey skynyard;) )

Stay at home give you bad sides sometimes but dont forget all the good sides that will be gone & disappear when you will quit them...even more if you ve got fragile shoulders...

    (own story)

I leave my house for a few month at the age of 17 thru a part of Europe ...and it was a nightmare (with some shining moments)...I was not into hippie ideology at that time ...just searchin a sense to those difficult teenage years...
I lost my that dad at 16 ...he became a sort of vegetable since my 5 yo (partially cause before he became alcoohlic & hyper violent with my mum) ...
and my mother give us a lot of love but was sometimes furious against destiny and strike us several times when i was i child (probably cause his own mother strike my mum...this is the wheel of destiny)

At the same time of the death of my father (2 be honnest he was nearly a stranger 4 me)
At 21 yo The elder (of us 5) brother David (my substitue model) slowly became mad (4real) after his girlfriend find somebody else... It last at less 3-4 years ...
Now he s gettin better thanx u god ...who can i thank?...maybe the univeral elements :H its 2 hippie cliche.

( 2 often People thing that everybody in Switzerland is rich and more or less happy...and people dont think that difficult and poor family can live here...)

So at this troubled time i was like a lost teenager with a troubled sexuality(i still have) in a ship in the middle of a turbulent sea:eek:

... I wanted to disappear from this hard & cruel reality ...find a better world to live...
But everywhere i go ... everyplace i found the same or even worst...
Without place to sleep ...i was shy ( it dont changed:( even more now at less with girls) & i robbed to eat...

I was naive at that time...and quite innocent... i accept to sleep in strangers
house...i was in search of a sort of new father...a real one this time... but they all just want to abuse you in the heart of the september's black night...
Hopefully i was strong enough (i was the captain of my football team)
i was tall enough (1m84) & old enough to resist (17)
    And thanx i was a Man/Boy ...

But 4 Girls like you Woodstock child it s even harder to survive in this kind of world...
Prepare your trip / find good friends & u will be in a more secure world

Like you until last year i wanted to escape & start again something in the west coast ...discover San Francisco...& Join a community maybe somwhere in the south boarder...
I really wanted with a plan and all...i still want 2 do it...
But I m in another continent; and I dont have the Money; and everywhere we go we bring our soul with us... if im more or less sad here... i dont think that it can change a lot out there... it s what i learned of a lot of places i go

I ve got to make innerworks before and became sombody ...with more solid shoulders before tryin to jump from bridges to bridges... i need giant shoes to be sure ...

Think of prisonners ...behind bricks for 30 long years...

You hopefully youre not behind 4 cold walls
Be patient woodstock child ...patience is the key ...dont loose your fire... give him culture then jump and offer adventure to your eyes...

Yeah. I've decided to wait until the Rainbow Gathering next year, if my parents refuse to drive me there. If they won't, I might be able to get a ride to it and that's what I'll do. I'll be 16, what're they gonna do?

So, do you want rock and roll or do you want rainbow or do you, maybe, have no idea what is it you want?

I ran away at 16 to a rainbow gathering and I had the cops called on me, however nothing happened to my friends who took me. I learned to have enough RESPECT for the gatherings to not cause them more legal trouble than they already have. Please try to have that respect... I did not attend another gathering until I was 19 years old, because having the police called on me was just not worth it. It will be near you, I'm sure you have a much better chance of going this year WITHOUT running away, even if someone from your area can talk to your parents/meet with them who will take you.

All I'm saying is when I'm a famous rock star, I will have no problem with living the rock 'n roll way.

fuuuuuuck. (how many of y'all have seen me post that word? this little girl better listen up)
so they had money. You kow how? BY SELLING OUT TO THE MACHINE.
those songs are NOT autobiographical- they are fantasy.
Let me tell you a little story about Nikki Sixx.
When Crue would be in Tampa, there was a particular metal head bar they'd go to.
Seems they didn't get enough ego strokes on tour, or it was just good for picking up underage girls.
Anyway, Sixx would come in coked out of his gourd on a regular basis, starting fights and being a general ass. He'd feel up teenybopppers (OK, so yeah, they are looking for it, but damn) and more. Couple girls yelled rape.
More than a few big brothers and dads got into fights with him.

Weird thing is, Sixx looks drasticaly different every few photo shoots. hmmmm. why could that be?
Maybe different people are the character?

and Pantera. We called them the panty terrorists.
Loved young girls. My best bud from high school was a groupie (yeah, she's in great shape: strung out with a kid. I got into it with her smack-shooting roommate who was watching the kid and spilled formula powder on the table the ash and line-cut residue coated table, and wiped it all into the bottle.) and I well remember slinging beer at a bar they played with regularity. They were creeps of the highest magnitude: mean to the women they brought with them, draping all over the girls, abusive and always broke. I know the bar paid a decent door to them and they still walked on food tabs.

I know the party life looks really good when you are growing up in a cultural backwater. I attended high school in Fort Worth. Definite cultural backwater.
And your time will come for it.
but you say you want to be a rock star: why not be a performer and live to tell the tale?

think how what you are feeling now will speak to someone else in a rough situation, even if it's just yuppie boredom.
Rock and Roll and rap make loads of money off bored kids in the suburbs who want an exciting life by selling fantasy.

Are you going to buy into a advertised lie?

I was kinda sympathizing with you until I read that. Joo Kyle's got some good points, you're becoming a parody.

Actually, I think that if you DO die at a young age because of drinking then it's just your way of telling your parents "That showed ya!"
Which is stupid. If you're dad is such a dictator then is he worth dying for?

Listen to the people here, save some money and leave when it's legal, it WILL make it A LOT easier.

I say you watch "Meet the Fockers" and pretend pop is DeNiro, he just needs a better script to become interesting. If your parents are that far from the tree, lighten up and try to be a jovial, pranking antithesis for a while. Guarantee that lashing out reinforces their narrowness and presumable control issues

The Crue were just a big joke upon legs ...they were runnin after fame...
I ve heard their 1st album and its probably their best...even if not fantastic...they were still hungry of money and angry about their poor life condition...
But after the success what happen?... it s often the same melody... they ve got the money they ve got the girls ... How to still honnest rebels when you live in Beverly Hills... This is one of the main reason behind Cobain s death...
How to find new goals when u reach suddenly all u have dreamed off

Guns n roses & Oasis fell in the trap too... even if the 2nd are officially survivors...
If people think that success can make them happier...they re naive... maybe with a little chance & discipline... but too many kids are just after the success in music & no more after an artistic dimension to catch...

This was 35 years ago...The artistic dimension was bigger in rock than in any other era... Marijuana Girl after success & been recognize ...thousand of teeny shining eyes on you... this is what your dreams are made of... play rock is just the way to reach this ideal...

I like this debauchery & eccess in rock n roll ... i take myself sometimes cocaine (but its rare & only in summertime) while i ear highly ballsy records (mid 70s aerosmith Led zep & black sabbath or early Motorhead etc)
But this is secondary...i like superbe prog bands that have NOT this "look at me i m rock n roll star" approach of music... they ve got an artistic summit to reach... This is the opposite of the actual youth who have their brain connected with the MTV "how 2be a star" antenna

All those girls who want to be Beyonce ... its principally based on envy...
You re a bit like them xpt that your model are gnroses & other damaged rocker...
