would you hop around on one foot?

would you act like a monkey?

    would you kill a man?

ahhhh whiskey has a special place in my heart. since there are at least four bourbon breweries in my town. (Jim Beam, Buffalo Trace, Old Crow and one i forgot) When I'm with out of state people that are drinking Jim Beam I love telling them its bottled in my town, and then showing them the spot on the bottle that says "Bottled in Frankfort, KY"

meh crown's mediocre...just another blended whiskey....a good whiskey is going to come from a single barrel in my opinion.

haha what do you like then..IMO crown is one of the best whiskeys on the market. Its smooth enough to drink straight, but its even better with coke for a mixed drink

That's the beauty of everyone's individual tastes. I prefer a small batch bourbon such as basil hayden, baker's or bookers. All three are perfect to enjoy neat, maybe with a splash of water if the bite is too much. I really like Bookers because the proof fluctuates from bottle to bottle.
For a single barreled scotch whiskey, send me an oban 14 year.

I just don't find blended whiskey to be that thrilling to the taste...

i dont know much about single malt scotch....but i know oban is rather pricey, and i have not had a chance to sample it.

i will say i love maccallan cask strength quite a lot...can't afford to buy a bottle, but i'm always tempted despite the outrageous prices if i see it at a bar.

there are a lot of good ones out there, but in my experience the only scotch REALLY worth drinking is a single malt.

though there are good blended whiskeys, i prefer the more individualistic character of a single malt. most blended canadian, irish and scotch whiskeys taste relatively similar to me. which isnt to say they're bad. i like johnny walker black label...i like jameson and tullamore dew....crown is ok i guess....

but i prefer better, more unique stuff

yeah i understand where you guys are comming from, but ive never been much of a scotch drinker. your right though everyones style is different. Here in ga, most college kids my age dont drink much scotchl. in general most southerners i would say dont drink much scotch. most whiskey i see drank when im out is jack, evan willams, crown, makers mark, old crow and jim bean.

the way i see it you should drink top shelf liquor. whether is be vodka or tequila or whiskey. Whatever you drink you shouldnt drink cheap i think about booze the same as weed

if i'm getting bourbon i generally get wild turkey. not particularly good, but it does the trick.

i have a hard time drinking any particularly strong flavored bourbons though...i got REALLY sick off of drinking nearly a whole bottle of buffalo trace once, and had THE worst hangover of my life

I don't think most kids our age drink scotch anywhere in the states. I only enjoy scotch because of the year I spent managing a scotch/wine/cigar bar.

Yeah oban is pricey compared to some domestic drinks, but not too bad compared to some of those overpirced 50 year aged bottles. Oban is beautiful.

what do you think of maccallan? i got myself a bottle of their twelve year as a christmas present to myself once...i thoroughly loved it. also love their cask strength, as i've mentioned.

also, i thought the isle of jura i got was pretty good but not phenomenal, but i cant remember the age...i want to say it was only a 10 year....

maccallan is good. often considered once of the best all around scotches. There was this guy at the bar, gay Tom, who'd always get bottle service on a mac 18 and a box of cuban cigars to pass around to the young men and women. My buddies would come in and hang out with this creepy old guy just for the free booze cigars.

I personally like the mac 18 year; expensive but worth it...the 25yr doesn't have the same dollar value to me.

of the ones i can give an honorable mention to, the 25yo Chivas, and Johnny Walker Blue Label

the blue label is just a joy to drink, soo tasty and soo smooth, i love it

i remember when the wild turkey distillery caught on fire and spilled in the KY river and our drinking water tasted slightly like bourbon for a week. Thats the only wild tuyrkey i've had. Even though i have been to buffalo trace a million times, and drive by it every day i have never had it. But if you're looking for some good bourbon get Woodford Reserve. Delicious. It's my favorite out of all the whiskey i've had.

    that sucks, man.

earlier i tried samuel adam's hallertau imperial pilsner....very good! very strong, refreshing, and extraordinarily hoppy, due to the high volume of hallertau hops added to it.

    simply great....

but even better is what i'm drinking now. brasserie fantome's printemps....great saison from belgium...on top of the great, spicy, funky, high gravity beer, i'm smoking a pretty decently tasty full bodied cigar....nothing great, and no where near the top of my list, but a decent cigar for low cost. i wont likely get this again, though.
