Internet is evil. But I doubt they will join up with google considering google has made google + to compete with them.

Hey I didn't say I didn't like the internet lol, its very informative and helps people connect. I was being over dramatic when I said 'evil' but when I said that I meant it distracts us from the outside world to much, technology it self does.

anyone who thinks social networking is what the internet is for, or good for, has already been taken in. same goes, to a lesser degree, for small business.

it is a way to imortalize the children of your intellect by freely sharing them on forums and in galleries. it is also, or was to begin with, a technological resource for engineers, scientists, and yes, even artists.

these are its usefulness and gratification. not social nor small bussiness "networking".
(though many young artists do successfully network online. but mostly through niche interest forums and galleries. NOT 'social networking' sites.)

I am not in FB. No need to get people I don't care about , bud into my life, with the catch, "you get to meet people". Not interested in virtual "friends" that work for the CIA.

It's weird to see people proclaiming they need facebook to stay in touch with their friends. Yes, it's true I'm missing out on some festival pics and I do not communicate daily with all people I know as much as the peeps who are on there but if I really wanted to talk to someone or felt like seeing those pics I still don't need to use facebook. I can ask the person directly (wether in person or via e-mail).
Also, what keeps me wondering about privacy issues: if you worry about some info getting viewed by for instance companies you want to work for... just don't put it on there? Same with fucking trip reports.. do you hang them on your parents fridge? So, don't put them on there. It seems so simple to me. I'm not on facebook though, it annoys me to no end. I just don't want to spend a minute on there.

What if the government demanded all the personal details of your life that you all so freely post on Facebook? You would not think of yourselves as free.

Well they do not have to, because they tricked you into thinking it was a social necessity. They tricked you into thinking that constantly telling everyone what you are doing, and where you are is normal. Your "private" setting means nothing.

You might say well I have nothing to hide, but that is not the point. Just because you are not interesting does not mean you are not in the database.

But what about political affiliations and things like that? That is what they are really interested in finding. The "terrorists" that do not agree with them.

    Facebook is phishing me

    Makes me hate on them

I really only like it to keep up with bands/shows

So, I posted a picture and fb automatically said it was taken at a place called "Superposition"

It's some club in Switzerland that I've never heard of and fb won't even ALLOW me to remove the location tag

It trips me out because as far as I know, the only place that info could have come from is my "location" on HF

Now, I'm totally "out" on the internet. I'm not a criminal and I have nothing to hide [save for all the TMI I unload on this site] but it is immensely irritating that they would go to such lengths to try and identify me and the fact that I can't remove the location tag is just a constant reminder.

They are falsifying their stolen intel.

This crap is going to drive me off the internet completely
