Just checking in with everyone. I've been living like this for half a month now... so far so good. One run-in with a bear and a few nights sleeping in ditches near the great lakes and a brief sore-throat and runny nose kind of cold because of it, but yeah. I'm happy. You can't begin to imagine what it feels like to know you're free and can do what you like with every moment of the rest of your life. I'm diggin' it. I confess though, I brought along my discman. Yum for music. Yuk for carrying around my massive cd wallet... hehe. Just one very very important thing to report to you people interested in doing this. I can't stress physical fitness enough. If you're overweight or have serious health problems, you'll most likely be dead in a week. Survival of the fittest is kinda cool in a creepy cynical fun way.... oh, and all this walking has really improved my muscle tone. Damn I'm sexy. Um.......... so, yeah. Peace out, everybody. Join the exodus!
wow the ultimate ........an overnight camping trip without a shower. Glad you had music.....personally I could do without a shower also if I have music. Anyone want to tell me how on this exodus you are going to feed yourself so that you have the strength to work like an ox?
No, as there is no plan.....there is nothing here. Reading your writings in enteraining.....nothing more.
Living the life is more entertaining than reading about it. I assure you. And the reason is that there is no plan. It's an adventure. This is what living's about. As long as you have the wits and skills to survive (which I appear to...), you're fine. As far as food goes, there's a lot to be said for knowing how to survive in the wild before living this life. If you don't (And Heat, I'm assuming you don't), you're fucked I guess. As for your last post, don't be condescending because you don't understand what's being talked about or you don't like it, or you're jealous or whatever. You're really giving off this kind of vibe. It's not cool. Peace though, to everyone.
Hey, dudes, I haven't finished reading your thread yet, but I have tried something like this before and I have just one important thing to say to you at the moment- Ease up. Don't be so serious about making your own country. You don't need to. All you need is a nice little group to form a commune. It doesn't matter if anyone recognizes your existance at all, why do you need to bring governments into this? This is about people, and you're going to be very dissapointed if you take too seriously the idea of forming a little self'governing country. That's completely unnecessary for doing anything anyway. If you've got a group, go with it. Making chip in a little money each and stick together as a troupe, you know? There are fantastic opportunities to form a small traveling or stationary commune pretty much however you like it. Just don't make things overglorified and complicated. Form your group, make it groovy, everybody tap into the far-out nature of what you're doing and just remember to be free and never become what you're trying to get away from. Let me know how it goes. In fact, let me in on it. I've been hoping to chill with a bunch of the different commies around this planet thing we've got going for a long time now. I'd be honoured to spark a little bit of revolution with you. Later, -Kharmi <(^_^<) <(^_^)> (>^_^)> The Rabbit

Ex-military 40 Acre Radar Base with numerous buildings Good hunting and fishing in the area Yeah, I like this! If you purchase this area I'll be part of the Exodus!
I think getting you own thing going is a great idea. I have my piece of heaven in Alaska. Don't know if wandering without working real jobs or interacting in society will work. There's a man that lives in his cabin about 2 miles and across the stream from me in the bush that has not been to town since 1997. He has a few things brought in each fall, but grows most of his own food and makes do or does without. I'm not that hardcore. I like computers and many of the other things the 21 century has to offer, But I did live at my homestead for a couple of years without power, tv, phone, etc. Try it. It's summer, go live without contact or supplies for 60 days. Not a few days or a week - sixty days. No friends helping - no trips to the store for just that one thing you REALLY need (candy bar, tofu, rice, whatever). Maybe after you prove youself, other will follow your ideas.
hi Kevin Smith I wish you the best in your endenvour. It probably won't be easy because you might stand in the way of "the establishment" and materialistic and aggressive people who are presently enjoying the status quo. (They also have the right to follow their natures!?) Anyway, I feel we need people like you as well and I support you. I,m in Portugal, but with you in spirit. Regards Carlos
im interested to hear how your getting on,have you gotten a plot yet?its a shame that it takes money to get a place for this, have you considered squatting unused land?id recommend a book called"self sufficiency"by john seymore.when it comes to technology id say that its foolish to turn your back completely to it,for example if you want to hunt fish or cook or build houses/shelters etc its good tech, not to mention making musical instruments and the likes.imagine a world without music. when you talk about leaders,it gets me to thinkin that leaders always lead to power struggles.you should just lead by example.if you follow your dream for yourself, and have a happy ,healthy life, then others may follow your lead, for themselves.as the saying goes, too many chiefs, not enough indians. ill be following this thread closely, good luck.
Pehaps to have a real Exodus we must leave this land First off it scares me to associate with America and I think the way things are will just keep expanding...like mould. Secondly it is so hard to gather a group of like minded people esp. when most of the people like us are loners. We all love the idea of working together but when it comes down to actually doing it it all falls apart because of individual differences. My plan is to get RN licensed and while I am doing that build my first small sail boat and learn to sail it onthe bay here where I live, then move up to larger day sailers. I'd like to work in the field, till my girls graduate from school, making contacts and learning how clinics are run and in ten years when my husband is ready to retire selling our assets and buying a small schooner setting it up as a floating clinic and my husband loves to weld and traveling to smaller less technologicaly advanced cultures and offering what services we can for food and supplies, with out the need to save any ones soul in the Name of jesus Christ. Just unattached reaching out and helping each other. There is safety in numbers and I encourage anyone that is turned on by the idea to persue getting and learning to sail their own ships. It offers individual autonomy and the togetherness of a community at sea with a mission to help with all our newfound medical advances and takes us off the grid at the same time.
I feel the best place for the exodus would be in some sort of wilderness not yet claimed by mankind (and yes they do exist). We need to choose a place and unite as one. Once this idea is more formed and we have many people, I think we should have a list of the people who wish to be a part of the exodus. Unfortunatley, I am only 13 years old and may not be able to be a part of the beginnings of the exodus. However it should take a long time and I hope to eventually become a part of it. I took the Chakra test: Root: open (50%) Sacral: open (63%) Navel: open (56%) Heart: open (44%) Throat: over-active (81%) Third Eye: over-active (75%) Crown: open (69%)
So, uh~ how has thing grouvai little thing been coming along? A friend and myself are about to head out for the vagrant life for a while. But, like I said, I've always been extremely interested in doing something like this. I'm actually checking out land in Canada (which is just kind of a funny coincidence, because I'd completely forgotten about you guys here, hehe). Hey, groove on! Keep up the search, dudes. <(^_^<)
In order to change, society must cease replicating the same thought patterns. The blueprints for "the system" must be changed.
How is this thing going? I posted something kinda like this too(I suppose we all take our turn at it) and I believe it can happen if we all just lay it down and rally together. Keep us posted, man.
the idea of any two people being 'like minded' is perhaps something of a myth. this has been as hard for me if not more so, then it is for anyone else, to live with and except. unity depends upon diversity. what is needed is a way for a community of unlike minded people to evolve in a nonorwellian direction. there are cracks developing in the corporatocratic facade, and little green plants are starting to grow in them. colonizing may be the wrong concept because it implies imposing an ideal, however noble, on what is already there someplace else. and there is alwas something already there. case in point what happened to the indigenous peoples of the western hemisphere. america is scar city certainly. and voting with our feet elsewhere is a real option for those who have the means or can bum a ride with those who do. just remember to let the land itself teach how to live in/on it and recognize the legitimacy of the elders of whoever is already living there.
If you really want to strike out on your own, the way things are in the world these days, your best bet really is ships an boats. For one thing, in the present climate, there is not much land you will find that some government somewhere will not complain about you taking on (unless you buy it, bt that still does not guarentee stability). If you base yourself on boats and ships, you can stay in a place as long as it works an if it no longer works or turns hostile, you pull up your anchor and leave. That might work for you, if you want to break out in the current social climate. There really is nothing wrong with the idea of setting up your own society, but you have to be real about what is available. You will still have to interact with the rest of civiliztion (untill it can be completely overturned or revoluted into something which, finally, truely supports freedom). Just some ideas.
