Wolves are extremely intelligent, family oriented creatures and were always viewed here in North America as equals and brothers of the first nations. But then the Europeans came over, and it wasn't enough that they had already wiped them out of thier own continent, they turned thier perverted misinformed stigma on these beautiful creatures here too.

Here in Ontario for example we've only just introduced legislation protecting them (they are now classified as a threatened species), prior to that there were absolutly no laws pertaining to them, they were open game, you didn't even have to report the kill! The government had no idea how many there were, and frankly didn't care. For centuries the social view was that they were menacing demons of the woods and should be shot imediatly with no questions asked.

This is most disturbing because as the top preditor they play one of the most vital roles in maintaining the sacred balance of life. In many places it's come to pass that their prey have grown to populations which can't be sustained by the eco-system and the overpopulation puts the entire system at risk of colapse.

The kicker though is there has NEVER been a reported incident of a wolf atacking and killing a person in north America, EVER, just a few imbelished folk tales by old mountain men. They are perhaps the most unjustly prosecuted and misunderstood mamal in western society because people like you believe (or atleast joke about)stupid ass shit like that. Dog is man's bestfriend, so why is it the wolf is demonised?
