erg, it bugs me too. That's why I lurk as 'appear offline' most of the time. I only get online when I'm in the mood to talk with people, and I usually start off with "hey how's going?" and then make the conversation work, because i'm in the mood to talk, not just irritate people

 

yea, exactly, i only initiate a conversation if i'm gonna talk to someone...not just gonna say "hey" and leave it at that...kinda rude

 

I will admit, I prefer the random hey-failed conversations to the creepy ass hassling-me-to-webcam conversations, those are just fucking creepy
