It means that it's a risk. And people have different comfort-levels with risk. I'm sure as hell not going to sacrifice the diversity of my sex-life to be utterly safe. I use a condom and have as many partners as I wish. That is the level of risk I'm comfortable with, and anything else would seem to me trememdously imporverishing of my life experience.
