To me the issue is simple.

An individual who is not fully ready for sex (physically, mentally, emotionally) should not be having consensual sex.

No person should choose a sexual partner who is not ready for sex. For me this eliminates the age question completely. Example: A person could be physically capable of having sex at a young age, but not mentally or emotionally ready until they are in their late teens or early 20s.

I think the OP is a troll considering they havent come back to this thread but i am shocked at some of the responses from our members -not including the jokes-.

in my opinion there is nothing wrong with being attracted to a 16 -17 year old so long as you dont sleep with them, the fact that this thread is about preteens suggests that something is really wrong. it is wrong to be attracted to girls so young because it can only cause harm no matter what you do.

On to the whole evolution debate. i dont see the similarity between homosexuality and pedophilia. As has already been stated a developed women (although a young one) would be the most ideal mate, child bearing hips, breats to feed with, experiance to use parenting and an ability to look after herself better makes a grown woman a better candidate then a young child any day. So Xexon i think your whole argument is crap.

Homosexuality on the other hand does have some evolutionay purpose, in a world so ever increasingly populated by humans it is not unreasonable to argue that a homosexual orientation serves the greater tribe by not increasing the rate of population. Either way to compare the two is to view pedophillia as a natural and non harmful urge which i disagree with.

It is understandable that pedosexuality can be an inevitable urge for some people and that they cannot help what they feel. Now, because the result of acting upon the need is known to be wrong, while the need can be pressuring at the same time. The right thing is to go to a shrink; a professional who can help a sane person with that urge to realize that he needs to alter it or terminate it.

I sort of disagree, although I understand what you're saying. I look at pedophiles the same way as gay people. I think neither is a choice. No one in their right mind would willingly choose to become a member of one of the most despised and hated groups of people on Earth. Now I have no problem with gay people, because it's consensual, but I think that pedophiles should all take the path of old Jeff in Hard Candy. I like to think that's what I would do if I was in that position, because if I was to ever act on those desires I would destroy and scar someone else's life.
