This is your problem. You are judgeing the book by its cover. You refuse to give it a try and always approach it with this negative thought that you have used for who knows how long. That you will not like it regardless.

    It makes you look foolish.

I judge people based on their taste in music to an extent, because music plays a pretty big role in my life.

I find it odd that you think it makes me look foolish, because I generally find people who are really into music to be foolish (and the majority of the time to be very annoying). But this is my opinion, everyone's opinion is different and this is just how I live my life. Every time I try to accept music into my life I hate it, and I always feel less depressed without music. It's just the way that I like things.

Judging people based on music taste is incredibly narrow minded, and stupid. I have a friend who I'd known for quite a while before he knew what my predominant music tastes were. And when he did find out, he seemed a bit shocked, and said he thought I was "too nice" to be listening to the style of music that I listened to. As he had stereotyped people who listen to that kind of music as being a certain way, and so expressed surprise that I liked it, as I am very far removed from the stereotype he had. I think getting to know me has chipped some of that stereotype away for him, which is great.

But still, it just goes to show that judging someone based on their musical tastes alone is just as foolish as always judging a person purely on how they look.

I have really weird music preference

I prefer live/local music and the only bands I'm really crazy about are bands that I've seen live (most of them local with a VERY short list of "known" bands)

There is plenty of mainstream music that I can enjoy listening to, but it's just not a big deal to me compared to how much I enjoy live performance so I tend to have not heard of most bands that other people know

There is also a ton of music that I dislike and/or hate (ie most hiphop, R&B, electronic/dance/club)

I tend to feel like the people that like what I love are *right* and the people that like what I hate are *wrong*

But most people like what I've never heard of, so I can't judge them

If Your Music Contains Distortion, Social Or Otherwise, I Would Suggest

Buying A Better Quality Stereo System...[IMG].

It happens subconsciously at times, I try not to hang to much onto these judgements though. I'm sure the OP doesn't either :p

well now i have even more evidence that seized is an absolute freak of nature! :)

i might subconsciously judge people based on their musical taste as well. what i hate the most is when someone says they like everything. sure, you can have diverse musical tastes, but do you not have a fucking preference?!

    what's your favorite music/bands, prissbaby?

currently, I've been listening to a lot of folk/indie type stuff. I used to be really into classic rock, then strictly only listened to rap for a while.. I go through phases with music. My music taste often depends on how I'm feeling in life, whether it's bluesy/laid back type stuff.. or super loud noise bands that make me feel like my head is going to explode :D

this is the kind of stuff I've been listening to lately. I also love unique vocalists..

    I don't think I've heard them since I was maybe 15 so I don't know :(

Okay, about three posts down I clarified that this was (sort of) a joke thread.. but why are you getting so mad anyway? Do you like shitty music?

and everyone, to an extent, judges people based on how they look. Sorry if I'm not as enlightened as you are or something, but you did come into my thread with the personal attacks :D

No, not bad at all, I do the same thing. I'm sorry but if a person listens to country or gospel you can not be my friend. I don't want to be fucking chillin' and smoking out with my friend and all of a sudden they start jammin' to some redneck hoedown shit.....not for me sorry. Especially new country UGH! I can handle a little bit of Johnny Cash or even maybe Patsy Cline BUT I have to be drunk as fuck!

The music people like gives me an impression of them and I form an opinion - but the opinion is transitory, particularly the more I find out about them.
