This statement has no merrit, if he died in a car accident 20 minutes ago, you would not know, I would not know, and in point neither of us would feel anything because we are not affected by the situation (anotgher indifferent quality of our species). Empathy is not the issue because in this situation it would not play a role. How is me saying we will all die hypocritical? In retrospect none of us understand death, no one who has ever walked this earth in all of human history understands death, the only way to understand something is to experience it, and no one I know who has died has come back to tell the tale.. I agree. But we die when we die, we have no control over when and where. This man has been driving extremely fast for however long, does not really matter. He can drive 150mph for the next 60 years and survive. Or he can stop driving all together to be safe and get hit by a stray bullet waiting for a bus. No one, and I mean no one on this planet has control. SO to die this day, that day, we are not the ones to say. Changing actions or behaviors does not merrit whether or not your longevity will be shortened or extended. If this man died today you wouldnt care if it happened. You dont know him on a personal level and furthermore would more than likely not even know if he was dead or not. And that statement all in of itself deviates from the original topic. Please do not attack me on a personal level, please stay on the subject - Avoiding the wait is not the issue, being suicidal.. that is not the issue. The topic was why some people are caught up on "saving a life" saving someone from themself. If this man CHOOSES to drive fast and ends up dying because of it, that is HIS personal choice and will die doing what he enjoyed, would you rather him not do what he enjoys for the simple theory that he may extend his longevity for an extra 60 years or 60 minutes (never really knowing when the time will come). I just do not understand the reasoning behind that argument. And how would you be sure you were "saving him from himself" Some people do dangerous activities for decades and survive just fine. Some people play it safe avoid all danger and die slipping in the shower at 19. Either way none of us have true control o our biological clocks. SO why not do what we desire and enjoy our short dream while it lasts?
What are you talking about? I feel empathetic for what could POTENTIALLY happen, because I have personally gone through the pain that his actions can POTENTIALLY cause. He doesn't have to die so then I can go "alright, it's ok for me to feel sad now". If you think that is what empathy is about, then I'm sorry. I said it was hypocritical for you to say it so casually. You are confusing death with what might happen after death. Many people know what dying feels like. That's laughable. Your actions have a direct impact on what the odds are of you surviving until tomorrow. Driving at 25 mph gives you a much better chance at making it to your destination than driving there at 120 mph, and not jumping off a bridge gives you a better shot at survival than not jumping off a bridge. Excuse me, but now you've crossed into speculating about me as a person, something which you don't know anything about. (how characteristic) To inform you, I would care, which is exactly why I have spent the last couple of pages trying to dissuade him from pursing reckless driving. Whether or not I know him on a personal level is a non-issue, I have stated to both him and you that I empathize with the situation as a whole, and that is more than enough to allow me to care how his actions affect him and whoever else might be occupying the road at the same time. How is that an attack? It's an honest question, and it's one that you conveniently failed to answer. He chooses to drive fast, but I can guarantee you that he would not choose to die. First of all, his "personal choice" has a very high chance of harming other innocent people. I believe his "personal choice" is short sighted, he has shown the belief that his "personal choice" precludes the idea that it may end up in his death or the deaths of others, and he has even gone so far to justify his recklessness through magical thinking (I can sense the cars before I see them). Everything I said to him was to try and help him realize these other possibilities that he apparently has not considered. If he wanted to be a skydiver, or go rock-climbing, I wouldn't say a word, but the main issue is that his "personal choice" is putting other people in danger, and you trying to defend that in some sort of weird death-cult fashion is really kind of disturbing. Like I said, no one knows when they are gonna go, but your actions are a direct reflection of when it is likely.
Thanks the man on the hill, finally somebody with my perspective I used to go all out with it, and you have to be a crazy ass motha fucka to do that. I'm not as crazy as I used to be, tbh, I like snowboarding more than driving now, because when I'm snowboarding I don't have to worry for my life, and it is still really awesome. It almost seems alot more likely that I'm gonna get really badly hurt snowboarding, just because I go balls out and have less inhibitions than when I'm driving. Are you gonna give me shit about snowboarding fast now neo? When I am snowboarding I usually go as fast as possible, and usually "endanger" others by speeding by them.
I think man on the hill needs some lsd. Like I said earlier, the most fundamental realization (that which is made real) of the psychedelic mind is that we are all One. No empathy? Guess what - no empathy is foundational in an antisocial (sociopathic) personality disorder. From the DSM III: "The esential feature ... history of continuous and chronic antisocial behavior in which the rights of others are violated, persistence into adult life of a pattern that began before the age of 15 ..." (pp. 317-318). (underline mine) It's a violation of other people's rights to be placed in danger because of someone's want or desire to do something of no necessity, like drive fast. It's a pretty low state, man.
Yeah I was playing racing games my whole life before I started driving lol. Anyways, it should be a free country I thought. Of course I wouldn't want a bunch of idiots driving fast, but if you are a good driver and always stay on your side of the road and know what you are doing, then I really don't see the problem. I think that they should have driving schools where if you pass some advanced driving class then you can get an upper class liscense that lets you drive faster.
Nah, it's cool man, I won't give you shit and I'll leave your thread. You obviously know best, immortal at 19, but like I said I'll pray no one other than you has to die for your selfish actions.
I would love some! If your ever on the east coast give me a buzz This whole topic has been skewed into many different tangents to try and disprove a statement that was in fact named "Logically True" by the one try to argue it. It's all I have to say on such matters. As far as your lifestyle I get it, your a thrill seeker man, so am I. I like going fast whether it's on a board, a car (on or off a race track), bikes, I like jumping off houses onto trees or snow piles, i like excitement. And to saw our such actions having a direct consequence on the safety of others in not far off from the truth. But every person on this earth has in one way directly affected the safety of another in their lifetime. Maybe 10 times, maybe 10,000 times. I say leave judgement to nature, she always knows whats best..
man on the hill, just b/c we will all die one day isn't a good reason to just be as wreckless as possible. sure, shooting heroin everyday might be fun (for awhile), but surely you can see that it's not healthy and will most likely lead to an earlier death, than if you had not done heroin daily. i won't argue that choosing sobriety could have eventually led to getting hit by a bus, so we really NEVER KNOW, but you can still be careful about some things. and you said that we wouldn't care if freshdacre died tomorrow in a car accident. well whether or not that's true, maybe we care about the OTHER PEOPLE that he crashed into. maybe they'll will be the bad driver, and they might pull out in front of you (thinking you're going 65 when you're really going 120) maybe they have a kid in the passenger seat and that's right where you hit them. yea, it's the other driver's fault, cuz they pulled out in front of you and "didn't know what they were doing" (like you OBVIOUSLY do), but does that mean the child deserves to get fucking murdered by your wreckless, IDIOTIC actions????!?!?!?! what the fuck FRESH?!?! stop being so dumb! i'm sorry man, i like you for the most part, but you need to get the fucking hint. if you want to be an asshole and keep driving wrecklessly and don't care if you kill someone or yourself, then just SAY IT. stop making shitty ass excuses. i hope LSD never finds you again you don't deserve it with your shit attitude peace
Shit attitude? I have a very realistic, reasonable perspective in the universe and freely for my own opinions and debate my ideas with others. How is that a shit attitude sir? Pork man i'm not liking the neg vibes man, were all just expressing opinions here First off I never said or made the notion that "we will all die one day so whats the point, lets drive 200mph into a wall with school children in front of it" there is a big difference between driving FAST and driving WRECKLESS. You can drive wreckless at 30mph and drive safe at 70mph, thats a whole nother issue in in of itself. And yes every single action you make directly affects the life you lead and ultimately your death, but to assume that every action has the same consequece is nonsense. To say driving fast you will kill or be killed in a wreck eventually is proposterous. The chances may be higher sure, no one is arguing that matter, but to determine the outcome of ones actions are impossible to predict.
you did pretty much express that "we will all die one day so whats the point, lets drive 200mph into a wall with school children in front of it" the way freshdacre is driving 120 mph on curvy roads in the winter, with the notion that he's such a good driver and can "feel" cars before he sees them....and makes every imaginable excuse for his behavior is RECKLESS!!! and wanting to do that on acid is even worse. i'll be completely honest, i've driven on a hit of acid before, but i've always been as careful as i possibly could. but still, watch this FRESH, i admit that i was wrong - that behavior is stupid. driving on acid is dumb. driving 120 mph on public roads is FUCKING DUMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 GTFO of here with your nonsense my hobby is to shoot my gun off. and the more crowded the place the more fun it is!!! i get more of a thrill that way. the other day i got in trouble for shooting my gun off in public, but now i just wanna do it even more b/c i know people don't like it. i'm a really good shot, so there's no way POSSIBLE for the bullet to hit someone out of my field of view, or rickershay (sp?). i'm am the man. i am in complete control. "ya can't tell me nuthin'" i'm kanye west i'm stubbon as fuck and can't admit any wrong doing i hope when you finally do crash your stupid car it's only into a ditch or a tree.
Well he obviously can't sense cop cars, and I think they are still classified as cars... Obviously he thinks he is the all mighty and can drive 120 forever w/out wrecking, or some other variable causing an accident. He will have a rude awakening when he does get hurt or hurts someone else... So until then, I don't think anything we say will change him. Fresh, if you can't afford to go to a track to release your adrenaline, then you can't afford to pay for your accident after it happens... Cause they are expensive. We are just looking out for you, and other bistandards. Try to be safe, I have been in my fair share of accidents and there is no way to sense cars or any other bull shit, they just happen. I hope you wise up.
Thank you guys for worrying about my well being. Actually you don't care from my understanding, you just care about the other drivers on the road. You guys don't even think I am a good driver. Themanonthe hill: driving on acid is the best thing you can do in life. Just also make sure you smoke some weed and have really good music playing thats when it's the best. Also I know I can't control other people on the road, but if they do something stupid like pull in front of me, all I can rely on is my reaction skills, but if somebody does something that stupid it doesn't matter because they deserved it for being stupid. Darwin theory in action. Anyways, I memorize exactly where there is potentially traffic and slow down if I know there is a road intersection and I can't see it. Basically I trust my eyes and my instincts because I am amazing.
Wow. Thanks alot pal. I hope you deserve to "die" as well. at least neodude had the courtesy to leave me alone.
How ironic that you brought up the Darwin theory lol. We are seeing the Darwin theory in action and you aren't comin out on the winning side man BTW, people are more worried about other drivers because if you were to kill yourself doing this, it would be your own fault, but if you were to kill someone else, it would also be your fault.
(My last post for this thread has become tiresome and quite repetitive) I would never drive on acid again personally. Last time I did, I didn't even realize I had started tripping yet. On the winshield it was like a video game, i saw/felt the health bar at the top, stars, points level, all kinds of weird shit and it really tripped me out cuz here i am on i-95 in a car video game like reality not knowing how i got there or where i was going and was a quite terrifying feeling. but thats just MY opinion, not forced on any other. It took MY experience to conclude that I/ME/MYSELF should not trip and drive.. And fresh your gonna do what you wanna do, despite words you read on a computer screen ... Peace & Love to you ALL
have you ever heard of defensive driving? it means you have to drive at the level of all the people on the road. you might be a great driver, but you have to drive in a fashion so that if anyone else on the road does something stupid, you are able to take defensive action and avoid an accident. ie. if you are driving at 120mph and some idiot pulls out in front of you, there is no way you have time to react and avoid slamming in to them (and i'm pretty sure that after the accident investigation, the blame will officially land squarely on you because you were the one breaking the law and speeding). however, if you are driving at the speed limit, and some idiot pulls out in front of you, then you will have the time to react and avoid the accident. you need to drive for everyone else on the road, as well as yourself. yes, there are really sucky drivers out there, and you need to consider them when you are out there on the road. you've said yourself that you don't want to die, and i'm sure you don't want to be responsible for other people dying. just give it some consideration. imagine how you would feel if one day that idiot on the road does do something stupid, and because you were driving too fast, you weren't able to avoid the accident and someone died. yeah, you might consider it his/her fault, but i bet you would still feel really crappy knowing that if only you had been going a little slower, you might have been able to avoid it.
