i hate the womens rights movement

In spite of the sarcastic tone of this thread, I think that feminism has done more harm than good. Some of the more extreme feminist ideologies border on hatred for men that is not meant to resolve the differences between the sexes (which exist for a reason IMHO), but to deepen the rift to the point of creating two seperate races. I'm old fashioned myself, though not to the extreme, and I've seen and lived with eveidence of the harm that feminism has caused.

It's just like the african american race looking to achieve complete racial equality with caucasians. And rightfully so, everyone deserves to be equal. However, they have taken it beyond equality to actually deepening the rift between the two races.
Just watch Oprah is you wanna see my point. I don't make a habbit of watching her show, but yesterday it was on in the background and I saw that she had people taking this test to see if they subconciously had bad thoughts about the opposite race. If you ask me, doing things like this just deepens the fact that there are two different races. Just forget the whoel categorizing thing in the first place and let people be people!!!!!!!!

 

I hope this post is scarastic. Women don't need to beaten or made to feel inferior or that they shouldn't or aren't allowed to do the things they wanna do it. IT IS NOT ABOUT BEING BETTER OE WORSE THEN MEN it is about CHOICE. If a woman wants to work she should work. If she wants work from home and take care of the kids. IF SHE WANTS TO STAY HOME AND NOT HAVE A JOB OUTSIDE THE HOME THEN FINE. You can say that one sex is weaker then the other because that is simply not true. And many men know that and it is because men know that they we have been opressed for so long because men know that if a woman ever had any real power. Power not granted to her of her own accord but the power to run a country or totally revamp the worlds view of women that things would be VERY DIFFERENT. Women deserve respect. It is our duty to take care of our familes if we should to have them. And if a woman choses to obey her husband's every command and cook and clean and make dinner for him every night with little or NO HELP that is her progative and Iam not one to stop her or tell her she shouldn't do that. And no one has the right to tell me how to live. I will live for what I chose as I chose wether or not I chose to have a family. Live your live don't live mine and don't tell me that I should live yours. DON'T PROMOTE VIOLINCE TOWARDS WOMEN BY SAYING THAT WOMEN MUST BOW DOWN TO THEIR MEN AND SPEND EVERY WAKING MOMENT SERVING THEM AND THAT WOMEN NEED TO BE BEATEN. THAT IS THE LAST THING WE NEED. What we NEED is to empower each to make choice our own choices. IT IS ALL ABOUT CHOICE. AND WE NEED TO BE ABLE TO MAKE CHOICES SO THAT WE CAN BE FREE A WOMAN WHO CAN'T MAKE HER OWN CHOICES IS NOT A FREE WOMAN. SOME MAKE CHOICES AND MAKE SURE THEIR YOUR CHOICES AND STOP TELLING ME AND EVERY ONE WHAT WE WOMEN NEED AND HOW TO LIVE. DON'T MISTAKE ME FOR A WOMENS LIBBER. IAM JUST A WOMAN WHO WANTS TO BE FREE. Oh and back to women being powerful GOD made us powerful.WE ARE THE ONES CAPEABLE OF BEARING CHILDREN WE ARE THE ONES WITH KEEN INTUSION. Men on the other hand have other strenghths they are natural hunters and their emotions get in the way less. NO ONE IS BETTER THEN ANYONE ELSE.

Oh get off your feminazi soap box. I'm a woman and I can't stand how uber feminists treat men. I had a teacher that demanded men to open doors for her, and other nonsense and then demand that she be treated equal. It's all about respect. THAT'S IT!

 

If you're worried about sexism, I think you better take a look in the fucking mirror.

 

I think that there are different kinds of feminists. Some are great while others are man haters. But I don't think anyone should say that they hate the feminist MOVEMENT. Regardless of what you want to do, the movement gave you a CHOICE. If you want to stay at home and take care of the house that is fun. But it is also fine if you want to go out and have a job and career outside of the home. I think this choice is being taken for granted.

 

I love the movement, and I love what it has done. However, like a whole bunch of you mentioned, I don't particularly care for "feminazis" or anyone who's more about hating men that bettering herself. I think that its wonderful that women now have the choice to become whatever it is they want, professionally, but its still a CHOICE. What bothers me is that, now that we have this choice, it seems like a woman who doesn't take advantage of her right to a professional career is doing something wrong... like its somehow "backwards" to take the other route. Just my two cents.

a lot of the people posting on this site aren't old enough to remember how bad things used to be for a lot of women before the women's liberation movement...and they still are bad for a lot of women in the world...really bad. i appreciate and honor the women who fought for women's rights. they've endured a lot of abuse, but they've done incalculable good in the world...for both sexes.

 

why? because some people developed a sense of humour

I think an important thing to note, though, is that as more and more women choose to work rather than staying home, the choice to stay home begins to dry up.

That is, as the work force gets a bigger pool to choose from, real wages go down over the years, and then it takes more than one income to support the family. In the end, the choice to stay home for a woman is reduced to having to marry a professional with a high income.

And then of course, the guy who gets to stay home with his kids is pretty uncommon, so what we're really talking about is expanding choices for women only.

 

I think where feminism went wrong is in the way it classifies men and women -- now and throughout history -- as two distinct social classes, ie men as a class oppress women as a class. It's simply not true and not that simple.

If you want to talk about releasing people from strict gender roles, well I'm all for that, but feminism is mostly concerned with releasing women from gender roles, and leaving men where we are.

I think that feminism has really made it difficult these days for men and women to have good relationships anymore. Feminism looks at men and women like...

Say a couple goes to a marriage counselor to work their problems out. But the marriage counselor only wants to hear what the woman has to say and isn't really interested in any of the man's wants and needs. It's not likely she's going to save that marriage by only looking at half the deal.
