Lucky for you, I don't think there is anywhere in the world where you are required to wear blue jeans. Maybe the South.

 

Another burning question: why did hippies become so found of bell bottoms in the 70s?

Perhaps because they could be taken off more quickly than regular long pants to make love right away.

Others say it was to hide their bare feet so they wouldn't get kicked out of stores in the U.S. which have the 'No Shirt No Shoes No Service' policy.

Maybe it was simply a style thing.

BTW, the NSNSNS thing is such a cocky slap-in-the-face phrase. You'd think businesses would come up with a better phrase, such as 'shoes required please'.

Leave it to the U.S. to come up with a cocky phrase/policy like that one.

It was because they started shopping at the army surplus and thrift stores to avoid wearing the trends of the time, and ended up setting their own trends.
