We get it. People go to college to make more money. Often fail. Some people get their shit paid for and don't deserve it. Some people get born into better positions. I'm sure you feel pretty shitty that you weren't.

GET OVER IT. Pay for college and make something of it or don't fucking pay for it. Bitching about other people isn't going to do you any good.

NO FUCKING SHIT. That's what I've been telling you this entire thread, but you are too thick to get it through your head that I don't give two shits about you and even stated in the initial post that it does not include everybody that goes to college.

They can teach you to stand in line, but they can't teach you to not be a dumbass, it seems.

The great thing about this whole internet ranting thing, is that I am not looking for any sort of progress - it is a fucking vent. You are the one that needs to chill out and pull your head out of your ass.

 

Which is one reason why I am so upset about the whole deal.
Why should somebody who is not interested in actual learning and knowledge be rewarded with that opportunity just because their family lands in a higher economic bracket.

You're right though, that receipt is nothing more than evidence that you are a sucker (unless you can afford ridiculously inflated education prices). The only people that truly benefit, rarely it's the hard-working, self-motivated graduates - but then the people that skated by and don't flinch at the thought of 60k don't even need that education in the first place.

And then those people that are not, and never have been interested in learning drive down the expectations of education institutions, causing people like myself - who tend to pick up on things with ease and can learn and learn and learn without having to pore over books and study hours on end - to suffer. I relearned the same remedial bullshit from middle school into the first two years of college. That pisses me off.

and it's more than just privilege, it's the apathy about education in the United States, and it is sickening. I'm fairly fed up...so...bottoms up - drink my heart away until the world fuckin ends.

Not angry, just using fun language to try and beat the idea into an idiot's head that the world doesn't revolve around them

When you generalize, you should expect something like this to come of it. After reading your absurd thread, I knew it was not directed at me. But as a college kid, I had something to say. As a rude piece of shit, you responded as a rude piece of shit.

When you are generalizing or using 'fun' language' to express yourself you often find yourself in need to clarify you didnt mean all college kids or that you weren't angry. As long as you are fine with being perceived as an angry rude character or with explaining often that you are not (not sure with what succes)...

I certainly agree with you. The whole "college kid" thing is fairly sickening. During my undergraduate days I was a poor kid in a sea of wealthy, WASPY, brats. While I worked several jobs to stay afloat, these kids were crashing Beamers, puking from too much Burnett's (ok, I've done that too...), and skipping classes that were paid for with daddy's dime. It was rather perplexing to me.

I suppose life is a bit different when you are a trust fund baby. Perfect teeth, perfect body, hands never dirty from working. You are bred for success from infancy, studying abroad in China, summer camps for young CEO's, volunteer work, rigorous music lessons. All with the intent to mold you into a perfect little achiever.

When us regular folk are lucky if we have enough food to eat. You can't let it get to you, though. If you let it get to you you end up dropping out and posting angry threads on the internet instead of working hard to pursue your goals.

Which, may I add, are just as worthy as theirs. Not to mention they are genuine, because they evolved on their own, not because of some rich persons vision of their child's future.

It makes me sad that people like you gain a sense of entitlement and can't fathom any sort of criticism, or even use critical thinking to determine things that are presented pretty matter-of-fact in the first place.

I didn't drop out because I was comparing my self to any other person. That was never a part of the thought process.

Thanks for attempting to reroute this thread, but I would rather you keep ME from the subject. It isn't a pity-fest about how I am not able to go to college. I could just as easily enter any field I wanted and put my all into it and own the fuck out of anything, it was a choice to make a life-changing decision to drop out and move away. A choice I don't regret, because if I had tried to maintain the life I was living I would have been much more drastic with my decisions.

I'm talking about how other people suck, irrefutably. Some even came to show it first hand.

Yes, I tried to talk about what the thread IS ABOUT. Because I can relate to it, and felt I had something to add. One might even say that that was the point of a discussion forum.

What are your goals? I'm interested in knowing. This is a topic that is near to my heart. You don't need to get so angry. I'm glad that you feel that you made the right decision in life. I don't think college is the right fit for many people, but society certainly does try to make it that way.

Sorry, I use myself in example, but ultimately this thread is not about ME. It is more about the direction that education takes on people. How some people take it for granted, and, as it has progressed into - how people can be so benignly ignorant of everything around them.

My goals don't necessarily require a college education - so that is beyond the point.

And I am far from angry - I am upset with the general population of people surrounding my house. And some of you people irritate me, but I am not angry at you. I can't help that imbeciles are imbeciles, I am just sad that they have become this way.
