Yeah, I completely agree with you.

Yet, it doesn't mean that one can't laugh about it all.

Lets be honest, people have fought for your right to say whatever you want and not be thrown in jail or persecuted for it. But I bet if I asked my grandpa or my dad or uncles if they fought in WWII and Vietname so that some punk ass kid could go around saying the word ****** whenever he felt like it, and think he was exercising some god given right by saying stupid shit to offend people?? Hmm...Id hazard a guess that they were not fighting for that. You are abusing your rights. You dont abuse things that you respect.

I don't expect everyone to laugh.

Yet this thread was created in a humorous context. I would suggest ignoring it if it offends you.

Most people, as bright as you Pavel, when they've matured, can keep celebrating their right to say whatever pops into their minds, and enjoy poking fun at social norms in a way that challenges people to think.

I don't feel as if you've challenged anyone into thinking much with this thread, and it's come off rather blundering and offensive.

    What is freedom to you?

Am I free to punch you in the nose?

Speech can be violent, Pavel. I don't want to pass legislation so that no one can use derrogatory terms. No.

What I simply want you to understand is that if you're disrespectful toward me, you're making an informed decision: I do not owe you any respect then.

Additionally, it is not up to you to say whether a derrogatory term that has to do with my very identity should be offensive to me or not.

    I make that decision.

No one who fought in WWII or Vietnam fought for my right to free speech.

I do see your point though, yet I do not see how it applies to me... since I don't go around saying the word ****** whenever I feel like it. I just don't see the problem with using it if I do feel like it.

My goal wasn't to challange anyone. It was to tell and anecdote, and hopefully get some response. I typed it up right after being blocked by one of these groups of gangstas... and it was just an observation.

You cannot ignore race, or the language associated with it.

Yet it has turned into an interesting debate.

What is wrong with loving one another?
I like me a good discussion, but I dislike endless banterings from egos that won't ever bend, listen or learn. Pretty pointless if you ask me, whilst there is one thing that is not pointless: love, respect and boobies.

    You keep presuming...

You presume what should be offensive to others and what should not.

You presume what people should take seriously and what they should take humorously.

You presume what people should ignore and what they should engage themselves in.

Just because you've faced discrimination, you don't have carte blanche to tell others how to deal with the same challenge.

If presumption is the name of the game, I would give you an advice for once: stick to "I" statements, and let other people decide what to do with themselves.

My father never called blacks anything but "coons'.He never uttered the word Jew.It was always "kikes".He told me not to let my mexican stepfather kiss me because it would leave a black mark.I knew he was a sick person by the time I was 6.Pavel,you're a funny guy and I've always enjoyed your posts, but obviously---you don't get it.I'm not a conservative, but with some things it's better to err on the conservative side than go balls out. This is one of those things. The man ,praxiskepsis, told you he was offended---what part of that do you not understand?

Speech can be violent, yet it's still free. I don't like Neo-Nazis, but I think that they should have every right to talk about hating Jews as long as they don't act upon it.

It's as simple as that. There is no thin line. I can talk about going to smoke a joint, but a cop cannot bust me unless I'm actually smoking a joint.

I am not trying to be disrespectful towards you, or anyone. You are the one who chooses to take offense at what I'm saying, and that's simply not my problem.

Yeah....I am too naive and I tend to look for the good in people.
But to tell you the truth...People make me so sad. I could just cry forever. People suck.

I've already responded to this argument with my previous posts.

If you're interested, re-read them more carefully.

I have stated everything, I think. I don't mind serious argumentation, even if it arouses adverse feelings. But I do mind circular conversations.
