I said that it would be UNDERSTANDABLE for a skinhead to do that because that is something I would EXPECT a skinhead to do but does not make it ACCEPTABLE for a skinhead to do so, I just can't understand why a Jew would do something like this in that Museum.

So let me rephrase my comment. I would expect a skinhead to do something like that to disgrace the 12million dead, but I would never in a thousand years expect a Jew to do this weather he knew he was doing it or not.

So, I am the fingered girl in question, and I'd have to say, the reaction to this little incident is a bit harsher than I had anticipated.

I'm not Christian, or German (though I speak the language fairly well, if I may say). I'm actually converting to Judaism, would you believe it? (And I'm sure some of you won't) I go to shul regularly, I love Israel, and have been involved in Israel advocacy for years. And I'm also a nice, non-malicious person in general. So, I really hate to shatter your image of me as a slutty antisemite, but those are the facts.

When Royal Blue and I decided to get it on, it was the result of several months of anticipation. We're nice people, with dark senses of humor. We wanted to do something naughty and inappropriate, and the fact that I had to go to the museum for research purposes provided a perfect opportunity to do just that. That's all there is to it.

bigT, you called me "Mary Jane rotten crotch". What would your mother, or better yet, all your relatives who died in the Holocaust, say about that? Really, is that any way to talk about a woman you know absolutely nothing about?

And what about your little photo? Last I heard, Communists were responsible for the deaths of many millions as well. And here you are, posing with a bust of Lenin and dressing up as a glorious revolutionary. Are you trying to dishonor those who starved from the famine in the Ukraine or died in the gulags? Because that's like, really fucked up. Or were you being, I dunno, sarcastic?

Maybe next time you should stick to research instead of fornicating there. If you really must know, I consider Marxism-Leninism my political philosophy. Yes, I am completely aware that some of the worst crimes in history (in fact far worse than the holocaust) were committed by people who called themselves Communists. Does that mean they were Communists? Absolutely not. I am a follower of Lenin (hence the bust), the massacres by the "Communists" you mentioned were that carried out on most notably the order of Stalin, and Mao, both of whom after consolidating power liquidated the ENTIRE population of what you might call the "real" revolutionaries. For example, by the end of Stalin's reign the entire Central Committee of 1917 was dead. Also the famine in the Ukraine was Stalin's fault, due to his lack of consideration for the Ukrainian people, and his FORCED collectivization program.

I'm sorry I even got involved with this, I just couldn't sit back and not say anything, not after who I've talked to, and what I've seen in that museum and in original Allied footage of liberated camps.

 

Would it make you feel better if we had done it in the Indian Museum (assuming you're not part Cherokee), or in front of the Pieta (assuming you don't accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior)?

We were being naughty, end of story. If your relatives were watching, I'm sure they were happier at the thought that the Shoah didn't make the Jews sad forever than seeing you crying.

P.S. Oh yeah, the old 'Stalinism without Stalin' or 'Maoism without Mao' copout. Communism is not a Platonic ideal; it's what people make of it.

 

I actually am part Cherokee (as well as everyone else in Alabama), but the fact remains, you didn't do it in those places, you did it in the Holocaust museum, you affect my personal history, and the personal history of many people I know, so you affect ME. Had you done it in front or in those places, no I probably wouldn't have said anything.

We would all be working in a Slave labor camp, and probably die from too much work with only 200 calories a day provided you have teeth to eat with, that being after everyone you knew was dead or in the same situation as you.

I don't think my relatives were watching because I am an Atheist and I don't believe in an afterlife. I do however know the difference between right and wrong, and what you did was not right.

I don't think any one of those 6million Jews, or anyone of the other 6million victims (Russians, Poles, Communists, Homosexuals, Gypsies, and Anyone not supporting Nazism), would appreciate what you and her did.

I wasn't crying by myself by the way but with 3 other people who were in the camps that I was lucky enough to meet before going to the holocaust museum through some Militaria collector friends of mine. I am not a Stalinist and nor do I believe in Stalinism because all Stalinism achieved was a personality based on him, and him alone! Read about Lenin, and Democratic Centralism and there you will find my beliefs, and a REAL revolutionary hero. It is not a "cop out" as you put it, I HATE STALIN, he betrayed EVERYTHING that the 1917 Revolution stood for, and Mao was just a Crazy Mass murder.

And your German is really good. I only took two and a half years myself, but I think I got more practice through watching lots of movies and reading newspaper articles.

Also, your politics are your business. I was being sarcastic with the Lenin comment - trying to imply that a joke/costume/whatever does not mean that you're belittling any particular event.

So, I was not researching any topic related to the Holocaust. I was actually looking at the museum itself, studying the history of its development and analyzing the exhibitions and architecture. I'm sure if I was going through it with several holocaust survivors, I'd be pretty depressed, too. I'm not a bad person. Really, I'm not.

Instead, I was just doing some observational research. The context is important.

And yes, maybe I had a rebellious streak. It is the result of being engrossed in my research, being involved with pro-Israel activities, and converting to Judaism AT THE SAME TIME. It's given me a bit of cynicism when it comes to excessive Holocaust remembrance, because I think I should be able to support Israel, go to synagogue, be an American patriot, etc. without any of these things being motivated by the Holocaust. I think all that emphasis negates my values, and is really, really bad for the Jews.

And death metal does not turn me on.
