I don't like holding babies. Do parents get offended?

    I don't hold them.
I'm afraid I'm going to drop it or something.

I would like to have children.

It's not practical if you'll be publicly burdened with infringement or violation of your personal liberties, but we could try it anyway...

And further, I like babies. Babies are neat... Yes, they poo. Yes, they spit up... and even though I don't have my own babies, I think I know... They grow up really fast.

So, hold 'em while you can... they don't stay little, right?

Parenting is one of those gifts. It grows and changes, and even when you're an empty nester after they're out and grown up, graduated, married, and bringing grand-babies to visit, I don't think it stops.

But, my version is you don't have to keep parenting. It's one of life's privileges. You get to keep parenting.

This isn't everyone's cup of tea though. And if your kids develop habits with drugs or alcohol it can be less than charming to keep them out of trouble.

Being a parent is one of the toughest and yet most rewarding things you will ever do. There is nothing else that is comparable.

Perhaps the next time someone tries to pass their infant to you, you could simply say, "No thanks; I'm vegetarian."

When our friend asked me if our dog liked babies, I told her to put it in his food bowl and find out.

She only realised that I was joking when I told her to leave it until later, because he already had eaten one for breakfast that morning. :D
