How are these people your idols? Heaps died before you were born due to their self desructive behavior. How do you idolize a person who dosent respect themself?
Janis and Jim are my two main idols from that list, Gerry Garcia is up there too but he at least had a reasonably long life, whilst alot of the others were cut down in their prime, for one reason or another. All of their passing is just as sad but I for one am glad that they had the chance to make their mark at a special turning point in history. We should be proud of them all.
yes, alot of people were saddened by their deaths but crying about it doesn't bring them back to life. they lived their lives already.
Regardless of whether or not they were self destructive... people make mistakes. Some people clean after some pretty heavy drugs, some fall under and die. It's extra sad to think that they had everything and it was all let go with self destructive behaviour. But for so many people (obviously), that doesn't take away from their artistic genius. I don't think it's fair to make someone feel crappy for looking up to someone who died of an overdose. It doesn't mean they aspire to do the same, it just says that this particular person who I look up to because of their musical talents also did drugs and tragically died of an overdose... complately their own fault, but still. Anyhow, I always feel consoled by the thought that part of these individuals, these greats, will never die. Their songs and words and vibe live on in the way others feel about them. I can relate when you say you feel like crying ...there's a quote I really love that I read some time back... goes some like "always share what you know and speak your mind. It's the best way of achieving immortality." Peace energy.
i remember when george harrison died. i was a freshman in high school, and nobody knew who he was. now THAT made me want to cry.
duuuuuuuuuuuude, that is some negative focus man. If you focus on the negative when you're s'posed ta focus on the positive, you're gonna have a bad time. Ha, I say, at least this damn brand of species has been graced by such contributers....And dude, great artists, revolutionaries, inspirers and great people and general have passed through life for a long time now... It has been a trip. This is why I take simple pleasures into such comedic consideration...Like auqua teen hunger forces' spirit journey formation anniversary. So everytime you notice the term, "Paradigm Shift". Think of all them, and smile...After that, take out some records,, listen and do what feels, "hit the spot" when ya feel like crying... uhh, even if that means crying I guess... Make'em tears of joy if you're gonna. This is true, I know the pain. But aha! I just got a copy of all things must pass from one of my sisters friends, so that turns that right around.
^ All those singers you mentioned, it's like, the only music I listen to! My friend thinks I'm going to end up doing that crap because all the rockstars did it! She says all the rockstars went to hell because they deserved it for doing bad stuff.
