I have done no such thing. I beleive what Jesus says... but not what was invented after his death. His message is simple and doe snot include a lot of hocus pocus.

First, you know NOTHING about how I live my life or my beliefs. Your judgemental assertions make you no more of a Christian. Jesus taught often about the Pahrisees who pay lip service to religion, who act so pious, yet do not seek the truth. I would be willing to bet I have spent 10X as much time in my bible as you have and I still read it almost daily. I think Jesus came to bring us a message and I will defend that at any chance I get. The lies that have been told in his name, the killings, the coersive conversion, the fear the hate the judgement. These are not the teachings of Christ. WHo is denying his teachigs? Look carefully and answer truthfully... not to me. You have nothing to proove to me. Let God decide who has litened to the message. Let him decide if a violent power hungry organization which has violently converted to world was the will of a man who wandered the wilderness telling people that God lives in each of us and that the establishement of the church destroys this relationship. It is easy to see who really passes judgement. I am not attacking a religion, I am sheidng light on its history in an attempt to help people see what Jesus was saying. It is far more important than what the church will teach you.

Wow, if he actually WERE Jesus I think he'd be cool with that.

    PopTHree..

I have to say, Bandit asks the right questions.
Im currently trying to find sources for your belief that most of the New Testament is fraudulent.

So Far, I have read about several of the Councils and found the references to scriptures already in circulation before the Councils.

So far... (and im still searching) I can find almost ZERO reason to believe this story of the fraudulent New Testament is true?

The only thing I have found is 'assertions' or simply suspicious assumptions.

    Now this is fascinating really...

There are numerous 'evidences' for the New Testament being 'Legitimate' including verification of historical names and places
    - Gospels and early writings which reference and validate the other books and/or writers.
    - Also.. comparing early manuscripts from one location (example Turkey) with other early manuscripts ( example Egypt) and determining the 'probability' of them matching based on timelines and migration.

So you have 'no problem' dismissing any of these things
    Yet
You readily and eagerly accept some modern authors 'conspiracy theory' of history without any real evidence whatsoever - just because it 'must' be true.
    ??

If you can give me some internet article links to some archaeology and history sites providing any evidence of this 'Roman Rewrite' incident - I would appreciate it.

I have never asserted a rewrite. You are looking for the wrong sources. We have discussed the councils who developed the bible before. This is no matter of contention. I said that the councils chose what to include, what to disclude and in that way shaped the religion form then on. I gave you a list of books as long as my arm. Read one. If you choose internet sources here are some...

I already have many books on the subject in my personal library.
You gave me links to ones I could order from online bookstores - and I dont have that kind of Cash.

Thanks for some of the links.
Several of them are simply repeating the same theory.
The theory is simply that - a 'supposition'.

Someone is simply saying 'The Gospel of John was written 90ad'
No reason to believe that other than him 'saying so'.

Then the popular "Q' theory is raked over again.
Its not real and no one has any real evidence of 'Q' - its just something they imagine 'could' have happened.

Several abberations are highly touted. Passages rarely found in other documents.
Your 'nefarious' Councils were conservative and responsible and erred on the side of safety sometimes.

I did enjoy this link you gave:
    http://www.users.zetnet.co.uk/kking/ntdocs7.html

I thought that did a nice job of explaining why the critics are silly.

    Dr.Swiney made me laugh.
Almost his entire theory is based on complete and utter assumptions and conclusions he simply 'imagines might happen'.
    Example.
Several times he reminds the reader that Gospels were 'handcopied' and simply 'asserts' this makes them 'less trustworthy'.
    WRONG
It makes typo's possible but it does NOT mean entire sentences become different ones LOL!

BedeLibrary was another good link you suggested
    http://www.bede.org.uk/seekers5.html

What do you make of that?

    Popthree,
Sorry to keep on about this theory of yours but .... Your now agreeing that these Councils did nothing more than confirm and agree on the ALREADY accepted texts?
I thought you had said the Councils changed the texts they had in order to manipulate the foolish dumb public into 'acting Christian'?

    Please clarify.
Did the Council of Nicea change any of the texts they had received?

You know, people can claim The Bible has been changed, or edited, or whatever all they want. However, I just look at The Bible for more proof. Remeber when God removed the Jews from Israel? Why did He do it? Because they did not obey God when He said every 7th year they must let the land rest. Ok, so we know that Israel for a while was a desolate area. Hardly anyone in it. In The Bible however, God speaks of a time when His people will return to the land. I believe it was in 1947 when Israel declared itself a soverign state. Interesting. If your theory is correct, that the Roman Church watered it down, kept what they wanted to believe, and threw out the rest....interesting that things like this would remain in The Bible and would still come true. Wonder how the Romans knew to keep this information in tact? Man I wish I could remeber scripture off the top of my head. What about the part where it is mentioned that Israel will provide vegitation and fruit for the world or something similar to that? Interesting to know that when Europe is blanketed in snow during the winter, Israel exports over 1.5 Billion in fruits and vegitables. Man those romans you talk about sure knew what to keep in The Bible huh?

Look, time and again The Bible has been proven to be true. The one thing I can be sure about, even if I can't quote scripture off the top of my head, is that I can ask for guidence in any situation I face at anytime, and know that God will send The Holy Spirit to help me find my answers. When I prayed for guidence on how to deal with Mormons and their faith, God simply pointed out a couple of flaws in that religion. When I pray now, in reguards to the things I read in The Bible, I do not feel I am being lied to. I am not warned to turn away from The Bible.

I don't know, I am tired, it is 6:17 am here in Houston. I can see the sun begining its peek over the trees. So, I am going to go to bed, pray that God protects me today as I try to live my life acording to His will, and pray that America doesn't choose to turn it's back on Israel anytime soon....that is, unless the romans made up that part as well.

I doubt that we will. The Bible study that I was taking says this: (Since know that the beasts of revelation represent nations or more specifically, nation's emblems)
"The woman was given the two wings of a great eagle" (Revelation 12:14)
Now, we know that Mary (the woman), who was pursued by satan (the dragon) because she was to bare the Lord (the male child), had to flee due to king Herod's decree. However, we might also assume that the woman may stand for Israel as well. The eagle's wings could respresent the Unites States since Israel doesn't really have any allies other than us.

I know we are going off topic, however, I wanted to clerify here. The Bible clearly shows us that "in that day" meaning in the latter days everything will be centered around Gods chosen land and people. That would be Israel and the Jewish people. One day America will turn it's back on them, and when that happens, that wil be the begining of the end.

    hmm,

not attacking the faith, but I would like to point out that ... well.. do you believe in the Nommos? please google them or something, it's interesting. People still don't believe in them but so many things have become true that have been passed down through the years in the tribe. They knew about all our solar system before we did and everyone said it wasn't true etc just like people do in Christianity. So who's to say that we all shouldn't become Dogon's or something?

:) Please don't let these loose moraled alley cats get to you!
If they really believed in what they claimed, they wouldn't be
here. They would have better things to do than be on a message
board around christians, and they certainly wouldn't be trying to
    prove anything.
I think America should kick their nasty butts out of here!
They just keep on thinking the world will always be free
and not realizing that freedom isn't free. Most of these
sad individuals live off of other people and the Government.
They don't have nothing else to do.They call themeslves free
thinkers because they are mostly made up of free loaders.
God is the only one who truly allows us to think for ourselves.
atheists are the loose, and the very ones spreading V.D. while
they are trying to find their true selves. some don't even know
if they are straight or gay,and many of them love and adorn porn and curse words. see their misery? Yet,it hasn't even hit
them yet that their way of life is the cause of their depression, and poor outlook on life and the world.
They want the right to be free to sin,and not have to pay for
it like everything else they don't pay for.
pray for them, and don't let them get you down. God wants you
to spread his message so just do what he wants and move on.
Hang in there. Remember, you live for Jesus Christ, not the world.

Good point! In the end, all you can really do is plant a seed and hope it grows. God knows what is in everyone's hearts and that is really all that matters.

wow I didn't know Jesus was from Baltamore?!

first of all. Anyone that comes claiming to be Jesus will not be glowing with the radiance of the lord. Second, the Lord will come with all his powers to smite out the non-believers at the end of all time. That time is not here
Lastly, Jesus will not comunicate with us over the internet.

:sunglasse Those who tried to add books to the bible were found out,
and those books were taken out. It's a great story how we got
our bibles, and all the hard work, love and dedication it took to
get them. People like William Tyndale risked their lives so we
could have a bible in our own language, and it's amazing how
satan could stop the bible,no matter what he did or how hard
he tried. Pray for the peace of ,Israel, and America!
