I Am So Sick Of Anti Muslim Sentiment

Criticism, as long as it is healthy and constructive, is never a problem. As Winston Churchill says, " Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfils the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things."

But criticism based on prejudice and lack of understanding is bound to be counter-productive. The Jews, inspite of their unparalleled cultural and intellectual productivity and contribution to world civilization, were criticized on the basis of prejudice and jealousy for centuries which eventually culminated in the holocaust and eliminated a major portion of them dealing a major blow to world civilization. If it weren't for the holocaust the world would have been a much better place to live in at present and the present Israel issue which brought in its wake islamic fundamentalism and terrorism , would not have occurred.

Hence if one has to criticize, it should be in the background of reason and facts, and never prejudices and opinions.

 

Islam can be critisized, as you illustrate on any thread about it.

I just never see you make any distinction between the millions of peaceful followers and violent extremists. It is all bad to you.

People are just getting fed up with the blatant misinformation and distorted generalized statements of (a lot of) people that hate on muslims. If it was nuanced and well adressed (just plain simple: if it made real sense) than far less people would have a problem with anti muslim (or anti islam) sentiment. As it is now, it is a true delight to see a person criticizing muslims and/or islam (depending on the details) and actually make a lot of sense. They're rare. Ignorant anti muslim sentiment however is not rare. How most critical people regard muslims and sharia law is an excellent example.

Another thought: If the far majority of muslims want to live under sharia law (which does not just mean killing gays or chop off the hands of a thief in the first place, to give 2 examples) and in north africa and the middle east almost every country has a big majority of muslims how come a lot of those countries are secular?

Actually I meant November 1947. That is when the United Nations created Israel. My answer was about how borders are created. In the case of Iraq and Kuwait, Kuwait was a part of Iraq until 1963 when the United Nations accepted it into the world body. Their borders are yet to be defined, after George Bush sr confiscated a strip of land between Iraq and Kuwait. Conveniently, the same stretch of land is known as the Rumaila oil field. Americans always seem to be interested in other people's oil. Now as far as Mrwriter goes, he and the other Muslims haters want to go back a thousand years and cherry pick information to badmouth Muslims today. So why should I be able to go back, say to when America put Ota Benga in a cage with the chimpanzees in the zoo, so whites could be entertained by the missing link.

But when I saw this thread I flipped out because I'd just seen the video I mentioned and I was still upset about it.

Tons of people from all over the world post videos and news articles about what's going on around the world every day there, and for the most part it's not pretty.

Yes, I know that video I mentioned wasn't filmed in the US. I'm just worried about it happening here. And it is coming this way. There already has been bad things happening in the US from the 'immigrants'. Does anyone here know what happened to the five YO girl in Idaho recently? I won't even post about it here it's so horrible. This site is Liberal. I don't want to argue all day long here.

Liberals get chewed up on the site I go to nowadays, real bad. I'm not going to try and drag any of that over here to this site. I still love this site, and a lot of you are my friends. I'm worried for You, this Country, and the World.

MSM doesn't tell you what is going on around the world, for the most part. People in Western countries around the world are scared and mad at what the migrant flood is doing to there countries, and their people. They post news and videos all day long every day. I can't even read it all, or watch all the videos, there are so many. It's so damn depressing.

I'll just say this: Most all of the countries in Europe I ever wanted to visit someday are off my list now.

And if you think it can't happen here you're wrong. They're bringing migrants in by the plane full every day. My little brother said his friend went to DES last week to get food stamps and it was packed with migrants.

Anyone here on this site that knows me, or remembers me, will remember all the years I spent on this site, and you won't find one who will tell you I'm racist, anti LGBT, or anti any religion, etc.

But radical Islam is real, and it is spreading fast. They have a 'caliphate'. Look that word up if you don't know what it is.

Again, I'm sorry for coming here and spreading doom. That was not my intent last night, or today. I just wanted to explain why I went off like I did.

It's the kind of stuff that can cost you friends, family, and possibly your job for talking about it. Most people don't want to know. I'm depressed as hell over it. Well if you don't give the exact reasons you are not really saying a lot. But if terrorism or the amount of immigrants in Europe is the reason I have to say ok understandable if you watch all kinds of nasty news but you are overreacting.

I think there's more chance on getting shot in the USA than being subject to terrorism or radical islam in Europe. Of course in the end it would be just being at the wrong place at the wrong time. Some americans were indeed subject to terrorism in a european country. If I misunderstood the reason of you crossing most european countries of your wishlist, I'm sorry but then you should have been clearer I guess.

 

Probably you'd have a higher chance of getting killed by an electric blanket or something like that than falling victim to terrorism in Europe.

 

If he dares to hit the road in his car he could also come to my or your country for a nice visit.

 

I just don't want to visit most countries in Europe because I only speak English. I know that it is a very common second language but I don't want to walk up to someone and start a long conversation with them then they turn around and say, "co?"

It's the same for most Brits who don't bother to learn any other language if they go to continental Europe. I've been to several European countries and really not had any problems over language (I do speak a bit of French). I've found European countries to be quite welcoming.

 

If he comes here he'll have to learn to drive on the left hand side of the road - but that's part of the adventure...........(sounds like a cheesy tourist ad)

my friend who lived in Finland has said that, but I am still reluctant. I might come off as an ignorant American but you Europeans have quite a few languages. I have rosette stone for Spanish but honestly I run into one in 10,000 people that aren't fluent in English.

I'm the same with german (deutsch). I'm terribly bad at it, and always switch to english when talking with german people because they don't speak dutch (netherlandish) either. But a lot of them, esp. eastern germans don't speak english either :-D Anyway, Germany is my neighbouring country on the right and the fact I never managed to properly speak the language has never stopped me from going to german music festivals and other travels to and through it! Always felt welcome too, but on the other hand they seem to love dutchies (at first )

 

I just watched the two videos again. The one from the UK is a protest by a Pakistani crowd after two of their women had been raped by Christian Englishmen. The second video is a talk between one Canadian man and a Pakistani man about the age of a girl when she comes to maturity. The Canadian was saying Pakistani men like that one needed to respect their laws. The Pakistani basically said he didn't care about Canadian laws. So, it is a video about using the opinion of one Pakistani man to defame all Muslims. The UK video was also intended to defame Muslims...all Muslims. Both videos are labor of hate. They reminded me of the time when John Wayne used to say, "The only good Indian is a dead Indian!" And today these Radical Christian extremists want us to revert back to the mentality of the fifties.

 

Asmo, my brother in law (married to my sister) is Flemish from Belgium. He speaks Flemish, Dutch, German, French, and English. So does my nephew. So, I hope to come there soon and check out northern Europe. I am mostly familiar with southern Europe, like Italy, Swiss, Greece, Malta, Corsica, Spain, ...

 

English is a fun language. The only bad thing about English is that Republicans use it. If we can rid ourselves of Republicans, then English would be great!

They were not raped, they claimed they were strip searched. It is not unreasonable to expect police would have to strip search fanatic extremists who where being arrested for terrorist bombing conspiracy. It is also reasonable to expect that fanatics and terrorist sympathizers would exaggerate and lie about the details of their arrest. Much like how you just fallaciously exaggerated the incident into, " two of their women had been raped".

The other video stands alone as testimony to a typical oppressive male Muslim's attitude toward western laws. That sharia is the only law he acknowledges and obeys. In this particular, the one that says he can have sex with any girl entering puberty even if she's 9 years old.
