the spiders I have seen. Some were kinda big and squiggly and some were sort of smokey looking, others were clearly spiders and most would scramble as i stared at them only one sat still until it faded away, but all hung around long enough for me to be certain i was awake. Maybe happened 8 or 9 times about 2 years ago.

yes, same here. My spiders stay around long enough to be sure I was awake. lol, my most memorable spider was a huge red and black one. No way in this world there is a spider that big in existence. I woke with a start, sat up and watched it scurry across the bed and crawl over the side out of sight. Well at the time I had a water bed and couldn't move it to see where it went, and foolish as this sounds I didn't sleep in that room again. I eventually moved and lol looked for the remains of this spider when I dismantled the bed.
hmmm...can you make peace with something like this?

ya, you sound like you have it full on. Apparently the shadow person is common with hypnagogia. Honestly! I am sooo glad I don't see anything like that. I can't imagine waking up out of a sound sleep and seeing a shadow figure in the middle of the night.

i experienced halluciations during hypnagogia few times. Like I had a sleep paralysis (not that scary when you know what it is) and heard music that was getting louder and louder until I got out of the state. I also heard voices from peoples i know, whispering my name, and then random sentances I used to hear daily at this time. Mostly auditive hallucinations, the visual is just black, sometimes with colours, or sometimes if i have sleep paralysis the vision is just blurred and weird

What always fucked with me was having dreams of snakes and then waking up feeling them crawling in my covers, i have a fear/love of snakes.

I see shadow people in mine... hear far off voices. i just think those are my memories jumbled up and played out for me as I fall asleep.

I don't like the shadow person. I was trying a clairvoyance exercise and started getting very drowsy, i guess i messed up and projected ( i don't have this skill it was an accident) and he starts pushing me back in my body.

    UGGH.

I have watched this thread grow and was surprised how many saw this hypnagogia as a place of fear or miss-understanding. For me this has been a place of insight, travel and power. I see each of these images and sounds as threads within us that we can travel in and between worlds with.

In my personal forum old crones place I posted an old story from my book titled Beneath His Roots, called Dance of the Golden Spider.

This place of hypnagogia is without limits, informing us we are in control of the worlds within us. When we master our selves we see with different eyes of understanding and knowing. I have learned to travel with the snake, the shadow form, the bear, the hawk, and many other co-creators and companions. This feeds both their understanding and mine. As the one grows so does the all. Fear limits us and ask us who we are. When we do not know we are lost as to how to find the purpose and answers we search for.

Knowing we will only see others and the worlds around us with the same depth we go inside us. This awareness is like opening the proverbial door of magic where all is possible and but a stage for our Being to stretch and grow. Knowing also when we demand and live with exclusive limits and fears we bind that which would make us whole and one, and the all looses. All we are and seek to become will limit us, or set us free.

Trusting you enjoy Dance of the Golden Spider.

I saw true black during it one time. Was amazing...it consumed everything and it had no texture, so incredibly dense.

I haven't experienced much hallucination for awhile. Eventually i force myself to move which is a traumatic experience, however at the time i feel like im dying...possibly from lack of breathing or maybe its what i read once about the brain falling asleep but the body staying awake...or something like that.

Some times i have my eyes still open and chunks of my visual field will get replaced...occasionally i can "go in" those cracks that form. its quite a journey...can be very taxing though. Usually I'll hear a very clear voice or experience something more vivid than reality and i freak.

well, i wouldn't necessarily call things like that hypnagogia either... only because i get the same things as you windy, but not necessarily in an hynagogic state... i totally get the auditory stuff... think you are just very sensitive...
