Bout time. The world will be a better place w/out Oxy. A rather unpopular sentiment in this forum, but you know what they say about opinions.:D

I can't find anything about a recent DEA ban on oxycontin. Anybody actually have evidence?

ive never done hydromorphone, but i love oxycodone, oxymorphone, morphine and heroin. hell i love me some hydrocodone but its been awhile since my tolerance was low enough to make it really effective. if hydromorphone is anything close to these than im sure i would love it.

Hydromorphone snorted v.s. oxycodone snorted is definatley more euphoric and uppy, while oxy is more sedating. Hydromorphone will come up half as quick as oxycodone when snorted. If you like sedating narcotics you will like oxycodone snorted, but if you like uppy social type of opiates that give more euphoria than nod in smaller doses then hydromorphone would be a better choice.

I cannot speak about oral since i never took hydromorphone oral, though I have oxy plenty of times. I cannot afford the price these huslers are charging for dilaudid ($10/4mg, $15/8mg) however I used to be able to get the 24mg-32mg time release dilaudids for much cheaper (around $10).

I prefer doing all my opiates intraveneously. The first time i did hydrmorphone i was shocked at how good it was. It was the only prescription that i abused that compared to H. The only downfall of the drug in my opinion was it didnt last quite as long as i had hoped. I gave my friend some and he snorted them and he said that he got really high that might be the way to make the affects last longer but if i can blast it thats what i do!

Frankly, I'm not a big fan of hydromorphone at all. The rush is physically too intense, and the euphoria almost non-existant. I'd pick a 20mg shot of oxy over a 4 or even 8mg shot of hydromorphone anyday.

This will be the only time that i will ever write a post here....Its you bunch of low lives that continuely fuck things up for the people who actually need the medication for actual pain and not a fucking high......i just had a 2nd attack of kidney stones and had to go through a screening process that i didnt have a problem AND subsequently got the necessary medication after being in emergency room with iv's and contstant demeral needles to lower my pain to a bareable state......finally I was given the necessary pain pills required to make life bareable until i can pass these stones.

your a bunch of fucking idiots...plain and simple...get a life you low lives....its people like you that fuck it up for the people who actually need the medication to have a somewhat normal life

I found this forum just on line looking for answers to questions concerning the meds i was given....and low and behold...i find a FORUM FOR ADDICITS....REAL NICE YOU PIECES OF SHIT

IDIOTS IDIOTS IDIOTS....KEEP ON SNORTING THE MEDS.....FUCK HEADS!

True. But I can see where someone who genuinly NEEDS pain management could get a little upset after stumbling on a website like this where people are not only open with their drug usage but basically BOASTING. I can't lie I'm one of the users and sometimes it kinda does make me sick when you sit back and think about it...

When I was in the ER earlier this summer, they gave me hydromorphone. I found it virtually useless for pain, but good for sleep. I'll take oxy any day over this drug.

I have not taken Hydromorphone, but I may be able to add to the discussion based on my observations.

From all that I have heard, Dilaudid is a very tricky drug to dose correctly orally. The bioavailability ranges wildly from person to person, unlike with Oxycodone where the oral bioavailability is around 63%-67%. Thus, for chronic pain, docs like OxyContin best. Plus, in the USA, there exists no extended release Hydromorphone. In other countries it exists as Palladone or HydroMorphContin.

However, from almost ALL I have heard, the high from a properly dosed Dilaudid is way 'richer' than for Oxycodone. It is more sedating, stoning, and more like Morphine (which the body prefers in terms of opioids even though it has a low bioavailability).

And usually, a good 'high' corresponds to superior pain relief, so I would conclude that OxyContin is a more 'standard' and reliable medicine for pain relief in that it has very high dose tablets, it doesn't dose-dump TOO much, and it has a standard bioavailability. However, if you CAN figure out a good oral Dilaudid (or Palladone if you aren't American...) dose, it would, in theory, be a better pain reliever. But a lot of variables are at play, so it is really something you just have to try for yourself.

It may be a valid point, but it would be equally valid to criticize the legislators that keep these drugs so highly restricted in the first place.

Can you say opiate anger?

Opiate anger! I know of NO such thing! I cannot feel that unpleasant emotion whilst on opioids.

As for people taking them for pain or pleasure or both, I think that it is silly to say one group is "better" than the other. The opioid drugs have many facets to their personalities and that is what is so great about them. They effectively help :

    - Pain
    - Gastric Distress
    - Anaesthesia
    - Depression
    - Anxiety
    - Aggression
    - Hyperactivity

Not all of those are FDA approved yet, but they are helped nonetheless.
