fuck that. go kill some animals (make sure you have tags and licenses tho) go kill them gut them eat them and get drunk and enjoy a fuckin feast. hunting is awesome =]
Excuse me? My claim was that I went and lived out in the woods for eight months which I did. I have no idea where your stone axe ideas came from or why you think that living in the woods means that you have to make a log cabin from sticks and wooden nails.. but heres my point.. You CAN.. I personally used a canvas tent. I personally used a metal axe and sharpening stones.. Theres no reason that you HAVE to use those things.. I guess what it is, is that I have nothing to prove. I am not doing this to throw it in anybodys face and dance around like I am somehow better than them. I have no moral reasons for doing this where I have a strict code of conduct and to use a steel axe is to fail. Im doing this entirely for myself, because I love doing it and it is where I want to be. It is clear to me that none of my personal experience is of any relevance to you caliente, since you obviously have no ambition to ever do this. Instead of being negative and telling everybody what they CANT do, why dont you be positive and tell them what they CAN. My advice to people who want to live this way is to get out and do it. Just pack your shit up and get out there, even if your first time you only last a few weeks every day is a major learning experience. Always be thinking of new ways to improve on how you're doing things. I know that for myself, the way that i went into the woods at the start is very, very different than when I left a few weeks ago. You wont need half of the things that you thought you did. Although if you are serious about this I would still recomend that you do some research and check out a raw meat diet. I do not believe that living this way is possible without one(ok, it is possible, but 100x harder). The simplicity of life that it creates (in ways you wouldnt even think of) has made a huge improvement in the ease of living.. simplicity is the key.. if something is too hard you're doing it wrong.
Dood, the "DNRC" (Department of natural resources) does not fuck around... In many ways they have more authority than the cops. Get caught a couple of times with that attitude and the judge will make an example of you and give you "habitual offender" status. Then you'll getcha a new diet allright... It's called jail food! ZW
shh , be va-wee kwi et i got a high-power air gun with a silencer . good enough wabbit , it eat the garden i make carney stew and furry socks . i get to know this animal very well and so we get along . somebody suburb lady recently tried to inform me that rabbit meat had zero nutritional value - well , i sure wouldn't eat the brain of a woman like that .
From wiki... Rabbit starvation, also referred to as protein poisoning, is the form of acute malnutrition caused by excess consumption of any lean meat (e.g. rabbit) coupled with a lack of other sources of nutrients usually in combination with other stressors, such as severe cold or dry environment. Symptoms include diarrhea, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure and heart rate, and a vague discomfort and hunger that can only be satisfied by consumption of fat or carbohydrates. ZW
I didn't say anything about what you can or cannot do. All I asked is that you substantiate your bullshit claims, which of course you couldn't do. What you did instead, as liars often do, is try to redirect the heat from yourself onto someone else.
My 'Bullshit claim' was that I went and lived 8 months off of the land? What do you want from me? Since we're talking past each other I will clarify. While it is entirely possible to live free of money, it is far too much work to make 100% of the items you need in a solo situation. Super-Hardcore Feral living is for groups of people who can split the work up between many hands. Chances are you will not be living like this so there are a few things you will probobly want to purchase to make life easier (but it IS possible to do all of this yourself!*!*!) Rope, ammunition and stuff like knives/axes if they break (learn to sharpen your tools and take care of them and you may never have to replace them) If you're not just shooting your gun off then you will not need much ammuntion to feed yourself all year.. If you want to be more realistic about going solo into the woods you will probably want to stuff a little money into a sock for emergencies but other than a few things that are not very expensive and last a very long time (if taken care of) you can live in the wild for less than $200 a YEAR. So to be smart about it you would sell hides or woodcarvings.. possibly some produce you grew.. use your imagination and if/when you go into town you hock some wares and get your luxuries. So far caliente you have offered no productive advice to this thread.
my whole family hunts, my grandmother used to hunt, her heath as not been to good lately my grandpa my aunt still hunts my mom used too my sister also used to hunt, I have went hunting with my dad before, my aunt and her 2 kids hunt, and my aunt got her bare licenses
LOL ... there you go again. See my earlier post. Have you done any of the things that would be necessary in order to say you've "done all this yourself"? No, you haven't. It sounds to me like you've camped out for a weekend or two, and from that you've decided that you're capable of living fulltime totally free of modern society. That is an utterly laughable claim. You could no sooner do that than you could fly to the moon. Look, maybe you're really a great white hunter and you can fill the freezer with enough meat to last all year. If so, that's great. But that's only about 10% of everything you'd need in order to live totally in the wild. You haven't considered the other 90% at all, except to say "well .. umm ... yeah, you might want to stick some money in a sock." Gee, you think? I wasn't the one making all those ridiculous claims.
Haha, there you go caliente, talking out of your ass. The entire point of this thread was somebody asked about hunting and said they would like to live off of the land at least 'almost' completely free of money (go and read it, its the first post right before yours) Your helpful advice was that it is impossible. I would say that meat would come in at about 85% of the days priority. you obviously have your camp set up somewhere that is close to a fresh source of water, so thats no problem there. After the initial work, your shelter is set up and unless you're collecting firewood, the time spent maintaining it is pretty small. How about we turn your negative into a positive caliente by playing a game where you say 'Well what are you going to do about all your disgusting fecal waste! you have no flushing toilets!! HA! And we can all brainstorm on ways to overcome these IMPOSSIBLE CHALLENGES!!
You're the one making the bullshit claims, not me. Blah. Enough of this. Argue with yourself, dude. Or tell lies to yourself.
I just wanted to say--good for you "Caliente", for it is fruitless to argue with a closed minded and deranged individual. It is quite apparent, at least to me, in the last several comments of this thread, that this particular person is simply out to "shake your cage", so to speak and has absolutely no interest in personal growth or enlightenment.
Closed minded? This whole argument started over my claim that it IS in fact possible to live entirely on animal products with no need for other 'nutritional things'. My claim was that if anything, my health (especially my wife's, the entire reason that we started this diet in the first place) has increased to a point where I do not look upon anything that isn't meat as food. I can say that I have tried almost every way of eating and come across something that is leagues above anything else that I have ever tried. I doubt that you could make that same claim. I am speaking from my own personal life experiences; caliente is speaking from her ass-umptions, for she could not possibly be speaking truths about something she has never herself experienced.
Of course a person can live in the wilderness... if they have been raised or trained in that lifestyle. Consider the Indians of the Pacific Northwest. A big part of their diet was acorn mash. They lived great using this food source, but when white folks tried to eat it, It made them VERY SICK. Their digestive system was not accustom to acorns. Or, perhaps we should think about the Vikings encountering the natives on the East Coast. The Vikings shared milk with the natives, and made them so sick that the native thought they had been poisoned. Most of the Vikings involved were killed in retaliation. As to keeping meat, ever heard of a pressure cooker? Works great with lean game meat (and veges too). You need jars etc, but if living in a set camp, problem solved. (oh, might be worth saying that the Forest Service or BLM will know about your camp as soon as you build a campfire. Count on them showing up to check for your fire permit, camping permit ~ most National forest and such do not allow more than 14 days of camping, and if your in the lower 48 - search for your cash crop.) It is not a matter of living in the wilds being possible, but more of living in the wilds in a manner that makes you happy. If you are warm, dry, and well fed = Cold, wet, and hungry = The only real question is: Do you have the skills to LIVE in the wilderness, not just survive until "rescued." There is a huge difference. This is not really a teach yourself subject. Books can help, but you NEED someone who has "been there, done that" to show you the ropes. Never forget: If it is just you and the wilderness, the penalty for failing is death. Most guys I know would only last until they run out of beer..... (Thought I better add that I have lived in the Alaska Wilderness for many years)
IMPOSSIBLE!!! LIES!!! IT CAN NOT BE TRUE!!!! NONSENSE!!! come on, help me out here Caliante Dont come here and spout your fables of living in the wildreness.. without proper medical supplies and 'nutritional things' you will DIE A HORRIBLE DEATH!! I declare shenanagins
