Because it would be illegal there too if they hadn't seperated from Britain in 1921! Oh and Ireland was a creation of Britain before British rule Ireland was seperate kingdoms which often fought each other. ;)

No more foxhunting! this is a decision worthy of a celebratory pint!

I saw in the newspaper a map of major hunts around Britain, and i found it mildly amusing that there is a quorn hunt! that's a hunt I could support. Well, maybe not, since quorn isn't very nice!

But it looks like rich toffs all over england will have to find a less cruel form of leisure. oh, what apity. My heart bleeds for them!

Did anyone see that guy on the news the other day, they asked. How will the banning of fox hunting effect your life, he said, "it won't, apart from i might end up in jail" how can people serious think that they'll continue this sensless competition is worth breaking the law for, being put in prison infact. I was like.. waah? Does he have no life outside fox hunting, anyone shed some light?

It's an upper class thing. Being told they can't do something is an alien concept to them.

Anyway I seriously doubt the the police who persecute animal rights campaigners are going to enforce a hunt ban. The police have even got their own index of animal rights activists and the Special Branch keep a close eye on them. As far back as the mid eighties the police anounced that one of the biggest threats was the growth of militant animal rights fanatics.

The police are on the side of the bosses and the ruling class, always have been and always will be. Don't ever expect them to do anything that offends or upsets the ruling classes.

the ban will be pretty much impossible to enforce. I would have hoped aban would have been unneccesary, and that these people would have learned the error of their ways and stopped, but no, they want liberty and livelihood.

    So do the foxes.

On the contrary. If anything, their class prejudice makes it far more likely that they'll enforce a ban, purely because to do otherwise would be too obvious an example of political bias.

Anyway, we'll see soon enough. However, you predicted the ban would never make it onto the statute book, so your analysis of the situation has already proved itself to be deeply flawed and prejudiced.

Yet again, you seem awfully keen to see the ban fail. I suspect you're in fact a Tory yourself.

Have you seen how much the police earn these days? They are on massive wages now and they know which side their bread is buttered. They know who they have got to keep on the right side of. The police may be recruited from the working class but they are like the Loyalists of Northern Ireland their loyality is to their ruling class masters, the bosses and the landowners!

Don't get me wrong I wish they could ban all forms of animal abuse, but unfortunatly vested interests will always stop it. For example is a government were to try to ban meat, the livestock industry would kick up a fuss, if they tried to ban factory farming, the food industry would kick up a fuss. etc. :(

The best chance we have of ensuring animal welfare is to educate people through propaganda such as this :- http://www.veganpet.com.au/whyvegan1.htm

You sound more like a pamphlet by the minute. Your average copper doesn't even think about where his loyalty lies. He or she is just a person doing a job and cashing a pay cheque. I doubt any beat copper has ever thought "by jove, my loyalties clearly lie with the bosses and landowners!". The police will (as they have already stated) do everything within their power to enforce a ban. Despite you wishing otherwise.

You fucking lying ****! Let's take a few examples to illustrate your highly selective memory regarding your own posting history:

You're an idiot, a hypocrite and a liar.

No I am not! What I mean is that banning hunting raises a lot of implications. The people of the countryside need time to ajust to a ban. A phased hunting ban would be the best idea with hunts gradually being replaced with drag hunts and rural communities being compensated by the government in each area as a ban comes into force. I am just someone who listens to the arguments of the other side and takes those arguments on board, rather than being one sided.

Also it is police chiefs who decide policing policy. They are not going to be too happy imposing a hunt ban if it is going to worsen police community relations in the countryside.

Would that explain why the house of lords voted to implement the ban in February rather than supporting the proposals to delay such an implementation?

    Ummmm, ok!

Yeah, sure looks that way, huh?

And they've already stated that they have the resources and the will to implement the ban. Also, most people I know in the countryside would welcome a ban, so I imagine it will, on balance, improve relations with the police.

You still seem pretty keen for a ban to fail. I still suspect you're a Tory troll.

So its banned, I wonder what the next diversion is going to be? Maybe they'll just give up and start using smoke bombs instead.
