He's also anti-gay apparently, as well as saying that a woman's place is in the home...

How thoroughly Christian of him. Michelle Bachmann would love this guy.

I wouldn't be too worried about having a copy of his "manifesto". It's just words. As far as I know words and books are not illegal, yet...

I'm finding it interesting cause he discusses Marxism in its cultural context (cultural marxism he calls it).

Too bad his assumptions about it are all wrong. He's adamantly opposed to "political correctness", which he deems as the cause of the fall of Western Civilization.

His big fear is that Muslims will take over Europe. He's a bit late on that score. From what I've been able to glean, during the past decade muslim immigration to Europe has nearly come to a halt. Just look at all the new immigration restrictions in the "tolerant" Netherlands.

He ascribes all society's failings to cultural marxism, including increasing crime, dirt, drugs, homosexuality, etc. What a hoot!

He's against Affirmative Action. I didn't know that Europe had such a policy, just the USA.

Here's some of the B.S. he spouts...

Isn't that the same thing Michelle Bachmann preaches?

OK, I'm done reading his crap. In his defense I will say he did a good job researching the rise of liberal thought in Europe. If you accept his warped values, his arguments make sense.

However, why would anyone want to adopt his warped value system?

I'm sure all "ladies" (as he calls women), want to go back to be subservient housewives, unequal to their spouses.

I'm sure gays want to go back in the closet so they can live unfulfilling lives filled with fear of discovery.

I'm sure blacks, muslims and other minority groups want to be discriminated against and become second class citizens (if they would even be given citizenship).

I'm sure Christians want to categorized with this guy as being so intolerant and prejudiced.

I can see where his manifesto will become fodder for the right wing, as much as for everyone else.

The right-wing will hail this as something completely valid, despite being written by a terrorist... Gee, that ought to give them some cognitive dissonance.

The truth is his manifesto correctly reflects the thinking of right-wing Christians around the world. And his actions are not so far removed from what these same people, like Glenn Beck, are expecting to do someday.

But in reflection, how could the actions of this terrorist, be any worse than the fears they have of what muslims might do? How are these Christian Crusaders any better than fundamentalist Muslim terrorists?

He has proven by his actions how wrong his whole philosophy is when put into practice.

When you put political correctness, or "cultural marxism" into practice, guess what? NOBODY DIES! People are actually safer because racism is not tolerated, and hate does not fill the airwaves 24/7.

His manifesto reeks of hate of so many groups, except fundamentalist Christians. That's their M.O., divide the world and conquer. It's US and THEM, right?

It's funny how the US spends its treasure (our tax dollars), and American blood to fight religious fundamentalist terrorism half-way around the world, but does nothing about such extremism in the US because white fundamentalist Christians are part of our ruling elite.

Christian hypocrisy becomes more obvious and deadly everyday.

Looks like it's finally coming home to roost in Christian countries.

Many posts in this thread appear to express a gleeful exuberance with the background, i.e. the political and/or religious beliefs of the perpetrator of a truly heinous act. Are some using the deaths of innocent victims to put forward an argument in favor of their own views?

The bombing and subsequent attack on the camp was the act of an extremist – whatever additional labels are correctly applied to him is irrelevant – the injuring and killing cannot be justified by any political, religious, or economic belief or philosophy and should not be celebrated.

Gee Quintus, at least others don't have a SIG QUOTE that is nearly the same as the shooter's final words...

"a belief is equal to the force of 100000 who have only interests." - Anders Breivik
"The opinion of 10,000 men is of no value if none of them know anything about the subject." - Quintus' Sig Quote

You should be ashamed to be using a similar quote. You would seem to be on his wavelength, if not playing his same game.

This is exactly what we should be discussing here. He took the action he did to celebrate his OWN belief system, one which you apparently agree with so much you have nearly the same quote as he. That belief system is what needs to be challenged and discredited before hundreds if not thousands of more people die as a result.

His belief system is a threat to the security of every country. His racism and hate is what causes war over race and religion. It is the realm of the feeble minded where people don't look on other people as being equal. It is US and THEM dualism that is destroying our society, not "multiculturalism".

And anyone who comes here to tell us to shut up about this, can save us the bother and take a hike to freerepukic and go celebrate with the other retarded Xtian conservatives who can't stop jerking themselves off over this event.

Haven't you adopted that same dualism with your left/right distinction?

I do feel that calling this guy's views "extreme" is not entirely accurate. A lot of people unfortunately have these same views and consider them normal, but he was just willing to go to extreme lengths to carry them out.

I mean, I can hold an ideology which says everyone must be treated equally, which is fairly normal and most people hold, but it's not suddenly made extreme if I decide to murder 100 people to support that ideology.

The quotes are not even remotely similar in meaning – even those with rudimentary understanding of the English language and barely capable of cohesive thought easily understand the difference. I'm sorry that you found making a distinction between the two meanings difficult.

The shooter had “final words”? I wasn’t aware that he had been killed.

“Discussing” is much different to the celebratory nature of most posts “reporting” the tragedy. And how, without gross misunderstanding of the written word, are my beliefs so “apparent”? To use your own words: “you don’t know me… so don’t assume.”

Embracing "dualism" seems to occur as much, or more, here as anywhere else. Several of your posts in this thread are excellent examples of such.

As fully expected, you close with an attempt of personal insult (based on further assumption) and the “my way or the highway” dismissal of differing opinion. Such is accepted for what it truly is: lack of ability to engage in honest debate and paranoid belief that any disagreement is criticism – all neatly wrapped in a thick layer of hypocrisy.

    Good question!

Maybe a more accurate description of Breivik’s beliefs and certainly his actions would be “extremely extreme”. As stated, it is unfortunate that others hold the same views as his and consider such views “normal”. Thankfully, few go the same lengths to carry out or further such views. Even so, this does not lessen the extent of Breivik’s views being “extreme” – a term expressing relative difference with the views of most others.

Based on my own in-depth discussions with (less than a handful of) what I consider fundamentalist, right-wing, Christians, and having read (only) a portion of Breivik’s “manifesto”, his views certainly seem “extreme” in comparison. In my view his actions were beyond even that to the point of absolute insanity and could not have been based on any Christian belief.

Extremists exist in all cultures and are of varying beliefs and philosophies.

Yes, you're probably right. I would probably consider his views as extreme even if he did not decide to kill 90 people for them. There is always an unavoidable relativism in these things though, because what is an extreme ideology depends on what the rest of us are thinking, which i'm not sure can ever be said for mass-murdering your own countrymen.

the one who is exploiting the human tragedy here is Quintus. He obviously didn't like all the most obvious rage about this so badly interpreted christianism, to say the least , and decided to play this little sneaky card to make all us feel like intellectual jackals of sort attempting to divert the blame from the insane act to an innocent set of beliefs - christianism.Needless to say, one single troll is not going to silence us. We are obviously NOT putting Mother Teresa from Calcutta on the same field of charlie manson, but at the same time we can't ignore the FACT that there is a whole bunch of pretty scary so-called «christians» who have a rather funny attitude about human life, have a look at J.W. Bush and his peers as an example. you know it's the kind of christians thinking that war can be morally acceptable. they're a big serious threat, and the norway hecatomb is a terrible example of this. got that NOW?

Norwegian government officials have stated that this incident was possible because the nation is very open, and the best way to react is to become more open, and NOT to tighten in civil liberties.

Can you imagine what a wonderful place the world would be if all leaders were as human and reasonable as the Norwegian ones?

Agreed. His views aren't all that original or extreme, but his actions were clearly those of a deranged lunatic. This is not a reflection on christian fundamentalists, rather a reflection of the darkness of human nature, an insight into how heinous we can be.

Fundamentalism is fundamentalism, regardless of religious background.

EDIT: I wrote much more, apparently there is a limit to how long your post can be in the news section?.. Most of my post is missing, and I can't be bothered writing it again.. Most notably, a man in Poland has been arrested and charged with accessory to murder, and the death toll has been reduced with a new official number to be released today, and the Norwegians are more united than ever in the face of this tragedy.
