How would you define a Hippy?

A hippy is just that...a hippy

Yes....lol, why I can't tell you? I am from the bluzy Mountains...yippee...*cough*

 

I agree there's not all that much to do at Leura but it is a pretty little town. And boy have you got some great scenery! I had a couple of short breaks in the Mountains (stayed in Katoomba) a few months ago and I find the people are a lot more easy going there. I loved the crisp mountain air too.

Kool Purple Sage, you know about Blind Owl, may he rest in Peace. When I was about 14, living in L.A., my dadfarmed me out to live with a friend of mine from School, and his mom's boyfriend was Sunchine, from canned Heat. I talked to him a lot... I was in awe at the time. on the road again.

OK I don't know about a Sunshine but there definitely was a Sunflower - is that who you mean? (May he rest in peace too, he died in 1997.)

 

Dang, sis, you are so right. I typed that at like 5 in the morning. Sunflower is absolutely correct. I hadthe Canned Heat album when I was like 12, in 1970. I loved that band, in fact Bob Hite is dead too! They are almost all gone, what a shame. Live for today and take care of yourselves. It's most likely too late for us old timers, lol.

Hey Viv, yeah it's sad about 3 out of 5 Canned Heat members dead. That must have been really cool knowing Henry Vestine. He was quite a wild one from what I've read. Another person I've spoken to on these forums used to live in Topanga around the corner from Bob Hite in the late 60s. Fito is the only member of the best known line-up of Canned Heat still in the band. He's got a pretty good book out about the band's shenanigans, line-up changes and deaths over the years.

 

Do you mean too many tourists are ruining the place? Yeah that must suck big time. You'll be happy to know that I'm all Blue-Mountainsed out for at least the next few years hehehe

An interesting sight I saw in Leura... we went to a cafe (can't remember its name) and the cashier there (a young bloke) was wearing black eyeliner. I know, not that weird but in a small town like that... Actually you can find some interesting looking people in the Mountains.

 

i think a hippie is anyone who, to any degree, is the opposite of a yuppie.

hey, yeah, people call me a hippy too at my school and so does my famliy, like what others say, "if u feel like a hippy, then u are a hippy" HIPPYS ROCK MAN! that should be a compliment, peace, love and happiness to you, and let the good times roll, as well as AWESOME music and friends.
