how to cure weed anxiety?

    i dunno. just try to relax i guess. i see where you're coming from. i get like that when i'm high occasionally too. i sort've noticed the other day that i'm getting better at sort of controlling my anxiety when i'm stoned the older i get. if you can get to the point where you're like "whatever, it's just a little anxiety" and not let it affect you, then it really doesn't bother you anymore, since you don't exactly get caught up on it and get yourself worked up over it.

    Dude. I know exactly what you mean. I love smoking weed. I do it whenever possible. But I also get weed anxiety. I get it to the point where I become so mute. I really don't feel like I have anxiety and I don't even feel nervous at all. But I notice I have trouble communicating so I just try and avoid it. I have trouble with it because when I try to speak, my voice is just too monotone and I sound like I'm mumbling my words but to me, I sound normal. To everyone else, they can't hear or understand me. Even my closest friends. The people I'm completely comfortable around. When I get high I just get really quiet. I hate it because it tends to bother people. It doesn't bother me and it never bothered me before. I always thought it was my way of just chilling and being high. I just enter my own world and enjoy the high. I'm 24 yrs old now, almost 25, but since I was 19 people I barely know would criticize me and dislike me for my stoner personality of just chillin. People would say, "why are you suddenly so quiet? It's really creeping me out" and after hearing that so many times by so many people, it really started to get to me. It made me become naturally shy and quiet even as I'm sober when I'm really not normally quiet. I get that way because I feel like I'm being judged and everyone thinks less of me for being quiet. I didn't know people were that socially judgemental. When I smoke weed, I just like to be alone now. I just like to enter my own world and just chill which is something a lot of stoners just don't understand for some messed up reason. So smoking weed to me, isn't a social drug at all. I'd much rather lock myself in a room, smoke and listen to music then sit with a group of people, honestly.

    i like how the OP is looking for a "cure" to his high anxiety. it's all about mindset, change that and you're golden. what do you want? a pill? i do know a magical herb that would help, but that seems to be thing causing the problem :p

    Social anxiety while high is pretty common. I definitely get it and most of the smokers i know do as well. I really don't think there's anything healthy you can do to avoid this and still get high. The best solution is to just save getting high for when you know you won't need your social skills so much.

    As for the more general anxiety, thats pretty normal too. I think thats one of those things where you just have to experience the anxiety enough that you realize there's nothing to be afraid of, then it mostly goes away. So basically you either need to keep enduring it until it just isn't an issue anymore or stop smoking.

    You could also drink (or perhaps take other sedative type drugs) when you smoke to curb the anxiety, but I don't recommend it simply because its unhealthy and you'll become dependent on these other drugs while you're smoking. And if you smoke a lot that means you'll basically have another full fledged addiction in addition to marijuana - and a significantly more unhealthy one.

    One time I got so fucking high because I kept smoking and smoking.My friend and her friend were sitting at the table and my bf and I laying on his bed.She was whispering something to her and I got really paranoid and thought she was talking shit about me.haha.In reality, she was just elaborating something I had just said, without his roomie knowing....:rolleyes:

    Don’t smoke as much, only take 3 hits at the most, just enough to get a nice relaxing buzz :)

    stop smokin weed. i get terrible weed anxiety. you can either take drugs 300 times as dangerous as weed like xanax to cure it or just stop smoking.

    My sister had this problem. She has anxiety in real life that's pretty moderate to severe to begin with.

    Do you get the "I'm going to die" sensations? Do your hands go numb and you lose feeling in your limbs? How severe is your anxiety while high exactly?

    Because oftentimes using weed will trigger those anxious tendencies, and it's not good to unleash them and get into the negative mindset.

    I would advice you to stay away from weed while you are relatively young and full of angst or whatever you have going on. Try smoking a little pot while drinking and it might alleviate some of your symptoms but be careful and watch your mood swings too.

    My sister and a couple good friends of mine could not stand to smoke pot because of the anxiety they experienced, but their choice is and was always respected.

    honestly its not like "fear of death" anxiety, its not severe in that way. What anoys me the most is how quiet and shut down i get. Everything coming out of my mouth just feels unnatural, like when you try to force a conversation cuz of the awkward silence, so that people wont think im retard or something. its like when im high i get so much more aware of all the social tensions in the air, like a forced or controlled laughter in politeness. Everything just seems fake on the outside, including myself when i try to talk, but realy dont give a shit about the subject, and actually wish to discouss all the wierd and insightfull stuff going on in the head. Only problem is i cant put words on my thougths, beacuse as i basicly DO become a social retard when im high.

    I think my conclusion from the advices you all given me, and what ive decided best for myself is: Be with people you fully trust ind an scenario where you feel comfortable, dont get caught up in negative thoughts, decide beforehand to not give a fuck about what people might think of you and stick to it, focus on only the positive feelings of the high.

    Okay, I'm glad that you are figure this all out and working through it. It's very mature of you to analyze your situation like this and really listen to yourself. So I wish you the best in your journey.

    I used to really love watching movies while high. There is nothing like that experience. Maybe you could ask some of your good friends to go watch a movie in a theater after getting high - that way there is minimal conversation anyway - and you could test the waters.

    Once you have a bad panic attack, people tend to think about it allot whenever they smoke again. I mean, anyone whos ever had a full blown panic attack on pot knows it is a far from tolerable experience. But the thing is, if you about to smoke a joint, and all your thinking is "I hope this doesn't make me freak out" than chances are you will, a placebo effect will start it off, and that will trigger the full blown panic attack. Before smoking you need to be thinking "this is going to be fun."

    I have Social anxiety BIG time. I am a quiet person and when I smoke it's even worse. It helps with my anxiety smoking I don't worry about every little thing like am I going to drop dead. Or am I eating enough

    I use to be a big pot head about 3 years ago. There has been several occasions where I have gotten so stoned and paranoid due to real good bud I have smoked. After a few problems I had with weed, I quit for a good year. Well I started smoking again a few months ago, and there was a weekend where I just smoked all weekend and day. So I go to my friends house in the afternoon after smoking from this party. He had some bud, So I was like what the hell. After I smoked this blunt with him, I got so paranoid where I knew it was coming. I've gotten paranoid before but not that bad. So as it creeped up on me, I went to the fridge and drank like 3 glasses of water, don't know what for. I then walked outside and started walking up and down the street for atleast an hour, thinking it would wear off my high. So then I walked back inside my friends house and sat down on the couch. That was it, that's when i experienced a high I never experienced before. My hands, legs and feet were so numb, I had no feeling when I rubbed against my pants, it just felt like vibration. In my mind I was thinking "fuck, I hate this, I know I'm just stoned, just don't think about it". but things only gotten worse by the hour, then I past out but was still thinking and had no movement. I then tried to get up, and every step I took, I forgot about (kind of hard to explain). So I just sat back down, then I couldn't feel my whole body nor think right. I was so paranoid I started to yell for my friend to call the ambulance because this feeling was not good AT ALL WHAT SO EVER. Well, in conclusion the high lasted for about 4 hours, even until the next day, but I was just buzzed all day not stoned.

    Like everyone sais if you feel your going to have a paranoia feeling before you smoke just dont smoke, or what I usually do, is take a hit to see how good it is, then I try to control how much I smoke. Everyone's body reacts differently, my friend can be stoned out his mind and likes it, me on the other hand, I guess not. Even from smoking all these years, I don't have a high tolerance, but alcohol I do ;)

    When I got anxiety from smoking I just took a really long break from it and it eventually went away.It took a while but one day I just said fuck it and smoked and I was find.You have to just realize you're not gonna be in that same state of mind for too long and you'll be fine.I agree with what most people stated, you have to be in a good environment with people you trust.

    well if you only smoke occasionally, then if you get a little anxiety issue i'd suggest just one or two cocktails to calm you down, but not to the extent that you would get drunk from it.

    be careful not to overdo it, because a lot of people find that if they aren't used to drinking or if they aren't used to drinking and smoking together, then if they go into it too quickly they sometimes get a little dizzy.

    if done in moderation and you drink slowly, then you should be fine.

    i would suggest something light and relatively low alcohol such as a gin rickey (1.5oz gin, juice of a small lime, a healthy amount of club soda on ice in a tall glass). the drink is mostly water, but does have a large shot of gin in it. it will help with cotton mouth, is low calorie, is delicious (if you like gin - if not, try a vodka rickey), and is large enough you can sip it slowly and gauge your reaction to the alcohol so you don't overdo it.

    a bad choice would be something strong like a martini or a something. you want a drink that dilutes the liquor so you dont drink too much too fast. alcohol and benzodiazapines share a lot in common in the way they affect a person, and in fact benzos are widely used to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms in alcohol addicts. benzos are most notably used for anxiety these days, and alcohol is widely known as its use, and often abuse, as a means of self-medicating for anxiety.

    so clearly using alcohol for anxiety all the time is not a good idea since it is addictive and harmful to a degree generally greater than that of cannabis. but if you only occasionally smoke, and you get anxiety, a -small- amount of a dilute alcoholic beverage you like may be a good choice for calming down.

    if you don't want to get too dependent on alcohol as a lifestyle, or if alcoholism runs in your family, this is a bad choice if you smoke frequently and get this anxiety more often than not.

    if you go several weeks without anxiety and don't drink much usually anyway, then having enough to take the edge off without getting drunk is probably your best bet, if you ask me.
