how to be a traveling gypsy

Hey my name's Laurence and I've been thinkin' of cutting outta here since i was 14...I'm 22 now and i've lived mostly in CA and TX....Im now tryin to figure out how realistic an idea it would be for me to jump into the nomadic lifestyle...Anyone out in California??? Im livin' in SoCal....out in Diamond Bar.....

Well I will have enough money to start my journy in 1 week.
So i'm just about ready. sorry for taking so long quiethinker.

I'm really not to sure, man...... some people don't want to leave for another year or so.....some people want to go now.....

 

well... i would LOVE to go with you guys, but i wont be able to go till at LEAST the summer of 2007. so bleh.

but i would love love love to travel around... meet kynd people, go to some shows... isnt it amazing that so many people want to leave? we would have one KICKASS connection system... practically somewhere to stay in every state! wow.. if someone could organize this... it would be really freakin' awesome.

but people need to remember, that bad stuff DOES happen. you can have your shit stolen. the very people you are with could jack your shit. just always be careful. thats why everyone should just be kynd, and caring, beautiful people. everything is easier that way, isnt it?

well we have a small tribe forming,This is a great movement.
I'm at the moment trying to get some kind of van maybe we can journy in for awhile.
What are the thoughts on the idea. I thought the van could transform into our gypsy wagon and glide us across the land.

 

if there are any people from houston or near by, we should get together and brain storm.

gypsy travellers become themselves, and everybody else just learns something or has a hell of a party i guess. best advice i can give you is listen to your heart, and listen to everything and pay attention and try to feel your life and things out. your heart knows exxactly where its goin already probably.

try to notice how things work themselves out on their own without any control from you at all...like last night for example, i met a homeless guy who offered to sell me brand new and probably stolen flashlights which i was just thinking about the other day, how we needed new flashlights since we only have one that works now. nothins wrong with stealin from some stores and its sordove like a belief of mine that stealing is meant to be sometimes..but he said he just needed a doller to catch the bus so i gave him 5 for 2 brand new flashlights and everything worked out so perfect. you just gotta have love, and faith, and everything will work out juuust how its supposed to.

 

Without any faith only negative things will come.

I've read through all of your posts and found myself laughing a bit. No not at you, but at myself. about a year ago, when i was goin to college, i sat online posting on forums, reading about peoples travels, and watching tour dates. i had the burning desire to hit the road. i made lists of things to bring and places to go and stay. I had it all planned out. So0o0o0o...i took a semester off of school. i ended up going to a rat dog show and the next day i found myself carrying a backpack and staying at some tour kids house. <weir family now =)>

in short: plan it all out...but odds are sumthing will change. it didn't happen the way i expected it would and i know many people in the same boat.

i guess i'm saying let the burning burn until you can't take it anymore, because when you're ready, you'll take off and nothing can stop you!

the best advice i can give you is: pack a bag and go. you'll learn what you need to have and you'll get what you need when you need it. ...and believe in miracles.

i wish you all safe travels...and maybe i'll see you on the road sumday!

Hi was reading the last post and just wanted to chime in. I've been
reading up on the type of work that is available on just such a venture.
Let's face it, unless you have unlimited financial resources (yeah right)
then you would need to be able to have an at least occasional roof
over your head. It appears that a combination of perhaps hostel-work
and maybe organic farm help could be a soloution to the wayward
traveller. I consider myself a consciencous and respectful worker and
I think as long as you approached peoples hospitality with a genuine
desire to give something in return, then it would be an ideal soloution
for all concerned. I could spend the next 20 years just roaming in such
way, and probably wouldn't get to see all the places and meet all the
people that I'd like to. Maybe the spirit of sharing and experiencing life
outside of a cubicle is still alive (albeit hidden) in America.

Well, I need all the advice I can get. At the moment I'm trying my best to save all the start up money I can. Suspecting to leave for Austin Sept, 1.05 to start my trip.
And hopefully meeting a few others at Austin's city limits festival.
I know for a fact I'm going to leave. The journey will be rough at times, but I know I can survive
