In SF yes. When I first saw bears out here I thought the were all going to be macho and shit until I saw 3 of them on a train giggling like little girls. Expectations shattered. C/S, Rev J
I can't remember when I started posting here, can't remember who most of the posters were except for Skip, PR, The Bricklayer, Captain Jim (I think), and one or two others. I just sort of wander about the site in a digital cloud of confusion looking for kernels of dubious wisdom posted by worn out freaks and neohippies. I found one once and was overjoyed until I realized that I was the one that posted it and then realized that it was pure bull.
I don't even think I have cracked the surface for what some of the site offers. Like the groups or anything. Are the groups good? And I keep coming back because I like it. I don't know why I do, but I've always been a forum person since I first sort of came online. Well I liked chat rooms too. I don't know, I just personally feel like I can make a better friend online than in real life. In fact there's not one friend I've made online that I was seriously interested in pictures of what they look like. That's not a concern to me. It takes away some of the mystery, and I'm also a believer that in this whole big great world, the best friends for me aren't going to be living in my backyard, city, state, country or even continent. So I search for friendship elsewhere. And that doesn't mean that I will ever meet up with them either or have an intention to. It's like a pen pal as a child, there's something there without the rest of the bullshit and I think that's what online really offers me. I've met good people online but there's often a time where they continue with life outside of the Internet and I would hate to think that just because we come online every day, frequently and often that we are subjected to a "you have no life" perception. That's not true at all, I do a hell of a lot outside the Internet. It doesn't take long to post a reply and there's not much better things to do when having a bath or something.
I agree with Irm that you can post quite a bit without investing a lot of time, especially if you type fast and have a full sized keyboard. If you have a computer-oriented job without internet restrictions, it's easy to keep HF open on a tab all day, and spend a few seconds out of each hour scanning the New Posts screen for interesting topics.
I never check HF at work--well, sometimes on my phone. I'm somewhat paranoid about it. But when I'm at home, I usually keep an HF tab open, and come back to it between activities.
Making smart alecky comments in sex threads started by guys who could just as easily go upstairs and ask their mom, is what baby Jesus wants, its in the Bible
