I have never read the Bible, except just for curiosity when staying in a motel. I read enough of it to know that it doesn't speak to me. It's pretty hard to find any wisdom in it, compared to a lot of other spiritual books I've read.
Just put your finger on a page, usually you can find some useful information to guild you in life. I like the New Testiment better really. I typically look for words said by Jesus or God.
When I was younger, I was required to study it in a serious way, regularly, including some memorization, and trained in the proper use of various related reference materials. I've read every chapter of the Old and New Testament at least twice, some parts dozens of times. I don't believe a single word of it.
You don't have to believe the picture it paints to see the wisdom it also contains. I think concluding there's no wisdom in it by reading some chapters of it in a motel is not the most solid way. After all, it can really differ which part you read. My mom was also teached to study some parts by memorization. It always seemed a bit ridicilous to me study to just learn to recite bible parts. It is best to read it out of your own curiosity naturally.
MyLee Jones asked us what the Bible said on these questions so I quoted what the Bible said on the questions, sorry if I upset you by actually doing what the poster asked us to do.
